Prep Hoops Florida scout Ross Van De Griek is on the grounds of the RP Funding Center in Lakeland. Williston defeated Chipley 58-49 in the 1A title game to win their first state championship in school history. Here are the top five standouts from the game:
The 6-3 senior guard was all over the floor hitting clutch shots down the stretch and on the defensive side was very active in the passing lanes. He played like a MVP and wasn’t going to let his teammates down, finishing with a game-high 22 points and 8 steals. He was also crashing the glass coming down with a team-high six rebounds in the win as well.

The 6-6 junior wing brought his athletic presence with him finishing at the rim with authority, as well as shooting from the perimeter knocking down a huge 3-pointer to lift his team. On the defensive end, he did a phenomenal job protecting the rim blocking a team-high 3 shots and not allowing his opposition to get second chance scoring opportunities.

Despite the loss, the 6-1 senior guard let it out on the floor scoring and crashing the boards in the second half, finishing with a double-double (13 points and 10 rebounds) his energy and presence was a huge lift for his teammates, shooting 6-for-9 from the field and creating second, as well as third chance opportunities off missed shots to keep his team afloat.

The 6-2 junior combo guard struggled from the field in the first half, but found his shooting touch in the second scoring 9 of his 13 points in the final 16 minutes of the game. He showed his aggressiveness in the fourth quarter, going 4-for-6 from the free throw line.

The 6-2 junior guard hit timely shots to give his teammates a boost where it mattered most. He finished with just 10 points with all of them coming in the second half. His two 3-pointers proved to also be a huge spark which helped seal the win and the school’s first state title in school history.
