Recruiting Report: Chase Altenburg (2018)
After transferring from Class B DeSmet High School to Class AA Harrisburg High School, 2018 guard Chase Altenburg found his stride this past winter season.
“The challenges that came with that were overwhelming at times,” Altenburg said. “I learned to play at a faster pace, become a more physical defender, and persist in times of adversity.” This first year Harrisburg Tiger applied that to his role as being the team’s three point shooting threat.
Altenburg’s game consists mostly of catch and shoot threes, and a lot of them. However, this 6’3 guard is deceivingly athletic and can also put it on the deck and get to the rim. On top of that he plays both sides of the floor well, as his competitive motor is just as intense on the defensive side.
This summer Altenburg has decided to play with the South Dakota Attack to achieve his intention of improving his shooting consistency and finishing through contact. Altenburg also wants to gain experience this summer and learn to play at the pace of the next level. In addition to playing AAU tournaments the Harrisburg Tigers still get to keep him for part of the summer for team camps so he can feel even more comfortable with the team for his senior season.
Altenburg has been on a visit to Briar Cliff and is in contact with Dakota Wesleyan as well as Mount Marty.
