Collingwood was another committed senior who battled some injuries during his senior season, but there’s no denying the positional versatility and budding skillset that he showed throughout the summer that warranted P5 recruitment. He drops two spots in our final rankings and that had to do more with prospects that were behind him having a stronger overall body of work to their seasons. Collingwood will head to Mississippi State and look to hang his hat on being an interchangeable piece on Chris Jans’ roster.

Collingwood falls one spot in this update as the Mississippi State pledge has somewhat struggled with consistency after he caught lighting in a bottle with New World this summer, particularly in the month of July. There’s no question of the toughness, versatility and untapped upside that remains with the hybrid forward as he’s packed with athleticism, strength and the qualities that you look for in a HM Division I wing. Moving forward, we’ll be focusing on Collingwood’s ability to pick his spots within the Sidwell offense, continuing to defend at a high-level and impacting the game in a multitude of ways. Sidwell currently sits 6-4 overall after a slow start, but have experienced and uptick the past few weeks with recent wins over Bergen Catholic (NJ) and Hudson Catholic (NJ).

The Mississippi State signee naturally creates matchup problems for opponents. Switchable defender, terrific rebounder, and crafty playmaker who knows how to impact the game without needing to score. Very strong, explosive athlete. Putting forth an impressive showing. Very well-rounded piece. Finishing at the rim, hitting off-balance jumpers, and playing exceptionally well through contact. Useful creator. Comfortable in several roles. Finished the game against Clinton Grace with 18 points on 5-11 2FG, 1-3 3pt FG and 1 steal.

-Collingwood absolutely blew up during the last two AAU live periods and saw his recruitment soar to include offers from several HM conference schools. That decision will be announced this Thursday between Mississippi State, Michigan State, and Ohio State. Expect the senior to be the leading scorer and vocal leader for a Sidwell group that has infused young talent into a group that will be seeking another MAC championship and deep DCSAA run.

Collingwood shot up the national charts after his loud summer with New World on the 3SSB circuit and went from holding 1-2 HM offers to several in the span of a few weeks. The 6-foot-5 swiss army knife can fit a number of different systems, roles, etc., so this recruitment was wide open as he embarked on his official visit tour. He was scheduled to visit Tom Izzo and the Michigan State Spartans last weekend but had to cancel due to illness. There are still plans to reschedule the official to East Lansing, but nothing has been made public up to this point.
Mississippi State and Ohio State have emerged as strong contenders for the Sidwell Friends standout. As Collingwood’s recruitment rounds third base, we’ll begin to see specific programs separate themselves in how they’re prioritizing their time with the pursuit. Right now, the Bulldogs and Buckeyes seem to be the two to watch.

-Some subtle tweaks to his jumper are reaping benefits as he is knocking down open looks both off the catch and off the bounce. Collingwood also serves as a disruptive play-maker at the defensive end of the floor, serving as a versatile defender that can scale up or down a position to fill needs within his team’s defensive schemes. Love that he hasn’t gotten away from his bread and butter by still habitually slashing to the basket and using his athleticism to finish over smaller defenders.

22p 9/14 FG 4/7 (stats per CoBL) vs Wood
-Collingwood turned in a pristine offensive performance in a big matchup with Philly powerhouse Archbishop Wood, with improved balance and a soft touch on his jumpers both off the catch and off the dribble. Collingwood did a great job of attacking closeouts to either 1-dribble pull to the elbow or baseline from where he caught it on the wing– even bypassing both to get to the rim to score or earn trips to the FT line when the help didn’t rotate over quicker enough. With a really athletic frame, great defensive instincts, and a slashing ability that habitually earns him a minimum of 12 ppg– if the jumper falls consistently on improved efficiency, these HM coaches will go all in on the senior wing.

Continue to showcase his ability to operate out of ball screens at 6-6. If you put him on the court with his versatility, inside/out 3 man and /or a skilled faceup big, that use his strong physical frame to dominate on both ends of the floor. Collingwood ability to handle the ball is also added skill set to his game.

Collingwood made his mark on either end of the floor with his play-making ability. He is an effective straight line driver who makes a living getting paint touches. He was able to convert scoring chances from behind the arc as a catch and shooter. He plays with an energetic motor. I like how versatile he is on the defensive end and has no issues guarding multiple positions. Mid major plus and high major plus schools need to prioritizing him.

-The athletic wing prospect can play 1-4 for Sidwell depending on injuries and rotations, using his athleticism to impact the game as a scorer, rebounder, and defender. The shot mechanics on his midrange pull-up are looking more compact and consistent, taking advantage of the space that defenders want to give him to cut off his slashing to the rim to pull up for an easy two. Defensively he has been incredibly valuable within Sidwell’s system as a trapping wing that forces turnovers on the sideline and in the paint, also showing off some improved shot-blocking ability in the key. As Sidwell’s core returns to the lineup from injury, I think Collingwood will be even more effective as a slasher, play-finisher and scorer in the halfcourt that can take advantage of the defensive attention given to their senior backcourt to make plays for his team.
