Prep Hoops Florida scouts Riley Sheppard and Ross Van De Griek will be on the grounds of Montverde Academy throughout the week covering the tournament. We will be previewing all six teams participating in this year’s event. Our first preview features the host Montverde Academy Eagles.

Once again, the Montverde Academy Eagles have put together a national schedule and this year has been no different as far as success goes. The Eagles have been playing in the National Interscholastic Basketball Conference (NIBC) for a second consecutive season and are 9-1 in the league, carrying a 9-game winning streak.
Here are some players to keep an eye on for Montverde Academy:
First Game of MAIT 2023: Thursday, 1/26 vs Westminster Academy- 7:15 p.m.
The 6-9 junior has provided a high motor this season for the Montverde Academy Eagles as he provides a lob threat and is a solidified rim protector. He is coming off a huge performance at the Hoophall Classic where he averaged 19.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game, where the Eagles went 2-0 with wins over La Lumiere (Indiana) and Sunrise Christian (Kansas).
The 6-7 junior forward is one of the best perimeter shooters you will see at this year’s Montverde Academy Invitational Tournament, as he is shooting at a 47 percent clip from beyond the arc this season. The Texas native has received offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Florida State, Indiana and several others. He is coming off the Hoophall Classic where he averaged 11.5 points per game and shot 48 percent from the field.
The nation’s No. 2 sophomore has had a stellar sophomore season for the Montverde Academy Eagles, averaging 10.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.5 blocks per game. He is coming off a 16 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists and 2 steals performance back on January 21 in a 89-40 win over Central Pointe Christian Academy. Flagg holds offers from Duke, Iowa, Michigan and several others.
The 6-9 power forward and University of Oregon signee has had a superb senior season, as he is averaging 9.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game this season. Evans averaged 15.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game in two games at the Hoophall Classic in Massachusetts last week.
