Check out the best point guards/combos in the Illinois junior class!
Dekwon Brown Dekwon Brown 6'4" | PG Simeon | 2024 #273 Nation IL (Peoria)
Current Ranking: #15
Brown is one of the state’s premier scoring guards regardless of class. The central Illinois standout can really get buckets! Legit three level scoring combo guard that gets to the rim with burst, stop and pop from mid-range, and stretch to three at a decent percentage. Has shown glimpses of improvement as a passer over the last year. If he can continue that over the next 9 months it will boost his recruitment even more.
Isaiah Green Isaiah Green 6'1" | PG Thornton | 2024 State IL (Kenwood)
Current Ranking: #20
Green is a combo guard from Chicago that made the move over to Kenwood from Hillcrest for his junior campaign. Playing with a ball dominant Ames he hasn’t been able to fully showcase what he can do, but there are definitely spurts where you see it. He is a smooth ball handler that wins on straight line takes and is a capable shooter. Decent passer and is a solid overall defender.
Gianni Cobb Gianni Cobb 6'0" | PG Homewood Flossmoor | 2024 State IL (Perspectives)
Current Ranking: #22
Cobb is the third top 3 combo guard in this class to change high schools as he transferred to Perspectives from Bloom. What you have to love about him is the speed that he plays with. He is a blur with the ball in his hands. Pushes with quickness off the bounce and acceleration. Decent passing feel and has good instincts as a playmaker. Solid three point shooter from the point.
Jakob Blakley Jakob Blakley 6'1" | PG Walter Payton | 2024 State IL (Larkin)
Current Ranking: #23
You have to like the consistency that Blakely brings to the table. Plus shooter that can stop and pop from mid-range and three. Crisp ball handler that is more than adequate at creating his own shot off the bounce and can knock them down off the catch as well. Next in line of high level Larkin guards.
Luke Williams Luke Williams 6'2" | PG Naperville North | 2024 State IL (Naperville North)
Current Ranking: #35
Williams will most likely make his living at the next level on the gridiron as one of the state’s top junior football prospects, but he is worth consideration at the low-major/D2 level as a hoops recruit. Love the length and athleticism he brings as a two way guard that can play both on and off the ball. Smooth ball handler that creates his offense off the dribble.
Kelton McEwen Kelton McEwen 6'2" | PG Wheaton St. Francis | 2024 State IL (Bartlett)
Current Ranking: #36
McEwen is a combo guard that is more of a shooter first. He is at his best using his three point shot as one of the better shooting combos in the state. Can light it up from distance.
Max Johnson Max Johnson 5'10" | PG Oak Park River Forest | 2024 State IL (OPRF)
Current Ranking: #40
Johnson is a playmaking lead guard that has the ball on a string. Solid decision maker with the rock getting others involved while also getting his own with his slick handles and capable pull up jumper.
