This article lists the great players that are continuations to the All DMV I-495/55 Fifth Team , who are technically members of the 5th Team.
In our next article we will conclude our All DMV I-495 / 55 Teams, with the honorable mention players, some of whom could be honored on our 2017/18 All DMV I-495 / 55 Teams next year.
Quentin Morilla-Bown, 6’9″, C/PF, Bishop McNamara HS Arlington, VA, 2018.
Quentin had a very, very good season for an excellent Bishop McNamara team last year in the WCAC. He played alongside 6’8.5″ PF Nate Watson who will play for Providence this season who was awarded 1st Team All DNV-1495 Team by Prep Hoops, and 1st Team All Met by the Washington Post. The Watson /Morilla-Brown combo was one of the top front lines in the WCAC & DMV last season, but Q could be without another tall big this season for McNamara and always understands his role. He is already an excellent defender and shot blocker with great wingspan, but this spring Q is a big Stock Riser. His hard work is paying dividends, and we have seen a jump in his quickness, foot work and scoring skills. An excellent student, Q has received offers from Columbia, Bucknell, Princeton, Boston University, Towson State, JMU, Mt. St. Marys, Lehigh and Lafayette. High majors are showing interest in Q and he could receive some offers very soon. Q is playing for New World 17 & U on The Adidas Uprising Circuit, in addition to his O’Connell HS team playing in the DeMatha summer league.
Q is #42 for Bishop O’Connell and opens the game with a nice move and score.
Heru Bligen, 6’2″, PG, St. Andrews HS, Potomac, MD 2019.
Heru is an excellent shooter & distributor. Last season he averaged 9.2 ppg and shot 84 % from the foul line. We believe he has the ability to become a nationally ranked player. This spring Heru is playing for Team Takeover 16 & U on the Grassroots Nike EBYL circuit.
Anwar Gill, WG, 6’5″, Gonzaga HS, Washington, DC, 2019.
Anwar was playing great basketball until he suffered a foot injury late this past season. Currently, he is doing very well and the very long 6’5″ WG has potential to be an elite defender and a national recruit. This season Anwar was beginning to knock down his perimeter shots to match his is high level slashing game.
Anwar is now wearing #1 for Gonzaga.
Darrius Hines, 5’11”, PG, Bishop Ireton HS, Alexandria, VA, 2018.
Darrius averaged over 15 ppg last season and is an emerging point guard. We believe he will begin to receive some D1 offers at the mid major level this season. Darrius is playing for Team Takeover this spring on the Grassroots circuit.
Jay Heath, 6’3″, WG/PG Bishop O’Connell HS, Arlington, VA 2019.
Jay showed some great flashes last season at O’Connell & he scored double figures on 9 occasions for the Knights. He is breaking out this spring for Team Durant 16 & U. Prep Hoops Writer Adam Ayalew said this about Jay after the DMV Elite Super Team Showcase in Bowie, MD this May, “Jay Heath is a big time player, and we saw why in Team St8ment’s buzzer-beating win over the DC Blue Devils. One thing we liked about heath is how well he attacks the boards from his position. Heath is a prolific threat in transition, and when his shot is falling from the perimeter can be an extremely difficult matchup given his unique blend of size, athleticism and toughness.” Jay recently received an offer from James Madison University.

Jonathan McGriff, 5’10”, PG. Bishop McNamara HS, Disrtict Heights, MD, 2019.

Justin Moore, 6’3.5″, CG, DeMatha HS, Hyattsville, MD, 2019.
Justin was having an excellent sophomore season until his injury in early January of this year. He is well on his way to a full recovery, and is currently ranked @ #52 in the nation. Justin is a legit high major D1 recruit and he already has offers from Notre Dame, Xavier and Old Dominion.
Jamir Moultrie, 5’10”, PG, Bishop McNamara HS, District Heights, MD 2107.
Jamir had an excellent junior season for McNamara, but sat out his senior season for undisclosed reasons. However, Jamir sat on the Mustang bench for all their games this past season. He will be attending LaSalle next season in Philadelphia.
Woody Newton , 6’7″, WF, McKinley Tech HS, Washington, DC, 2020.
Most people in the know from the DMV agree Woody will be a national recruit very soon.
Please read our Recruiting Report for Woody below:
Nate Spurlock, 6’7″, WG/WF/Stretch4, WT Woodson HS Fairfax, VA, 2018.
Nate is very versatile forward and had was a huge factor in helping to lead WT Woodson win the Virginia 6A State Title this past year with 26-6 record. Nate is another under the radar gem in the DMV and a D1 recruit. The lefty can score from anywhere on the hardwood and at all 3 levels. Additionally, he is a very tough defender who is not afraid to mix it up in traffic.
Nate is #50, Jason Ainger #20, Mathew Urbach #30, Simon Mula 23 #, and sophomore Cody Mains #52.
Kenneth Tyree, 5’10” PG, Friendship Tech HS, Washington, DC 2018.
Kenneth is one of the most under the radar players playing for a Washington, DC school for 2018.”After transferring from Annacostia HS of the DCIAA, the dynmaic Tyree averaged 18 points per game to help lead the return of the Friendship Tech, which didn’t field a team in 2015-16.
Matthew Urbach, 6’4.5″, WG, WT Woodson, Fairfax, VA. 2018.
Matthew had a huge impact in helping to lead WT Woodson to the Virginia 6A State Title this past year. He is known being a knock down shooter, but Matthew has very good bounce & the ability to get in the paint. He is a fantastic ball mover with a high basketball IQ & Matthew is one of the best stock risers in the DMV. Matthew is an excellent student with a 3.4 GPA. and his recruiting is heating up after strong performances this spring. Matthew just received an offer from LaSalle with many other schools showing heavy interest.
Qudus Wahab, 6’11”, C, Virginia Academy, Ashburn, VA, 2019.
Qudus is a defensive force currently ranked a 4star recruit & #109 in the nation. He holds offers from Clemson, Virginia Tech, Rutgers, U Mass and Colgate. Qudus is an outstanding prospect who could move up in the rankings if he can improve on the offensive end and he is showing signs.
