Justin Hinds | W 2024 Salesianum (DE)
Sallies took their lumps in a home loss to Neumann-Goretti, but not without some bright spots from Hinds. The 6’6 wing created problems for NG’s guards – Myers Wright III – racking up multiple steals and blocks at the point of attack. He also contested shots in the post. Offensively, Hinds showed improvement getting to the rim, where he used his length to finish over and around defenders.
Nayeem Johnson Nayeem Johnson 6'2" | SG Math, Civics And Sciences | 2023 State PA | G 2023 Math, Civics, & Sciences
Johnson put up 19 points in MCS’s season-opener and it was a step in the right direction for him as a prospect. Although they lost, he knocked down shots with one or no dribbles. He made good decisions as a passer and forced turnovers on defense as well. Equally as important, Johnson changed speeds when getting downhill, using jump-stops to avoid picking up charges, evade defenders, and find finishing angles at the basket.
Isaiah Marshall | G 2025 Friends Select
With Kirkland getting into early foul trouble against Cristo Rey, Marshall was more than willing to shoulder the offensive burden for the Falcons. The high motor sophomore drove to the basket with ease, using his strength to get to his spots. That insistence on attacking the paint made him a regular at the free throw line and created foul trouble for CR. Of his game-high 27 points, 13 of them came from 16 attempts at the charity stripe.
Amir Nelson Amir Nelson 5'11" | CG Cristo Rey Philadelphia | 2025 State PA | G 2025 Cristo Rey
The Pride jumped out to an early lead against Friends Select with shot-making from Nelson. At the end of the first quarter, Cristo Rey was up 19-10, with 10 points coming from Nelson alone. He knocked down 3 triples in that period, including a four-point play where converted an and-1 opportunity. He countered in the second by getting to the cup for another 5 points – 15 total on the night – as they went on to win 76-69.
Bruce Smith | G 2023 Neumann-Goretti
Playing the 3 for the Saints, Smith positively impacted every aspect of their games against Eagle Academy (NY) and Salesianum (DE). He rebounds (5.5 rpg) and knows exactly where to go with the ball on offense. Smith is also strong through contact when getting to the rack (6.5 ppg). His 3 steals were nice but what didn’t show up in the stat sheet was his team defense. He impressively fought around ball screens to recover and still help deter drives.
Deywilk Tavarez Deywilk Tavarez 6'2" | CG Academy of New Church | 2023 State PA | G 2023 Academy of the New Church
For a team that’s winning but still finding itself, Tavarez helps stabilize them on both ends. He contributed 23 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 9 steals on the road versus Springside Chestnut Hill. His aggression as a defender generated transition opportunities which the Lions more than took advantage of. Even though he led them in scoring with buckets at every level, he made the extra passes and dished it ahead to teammates on fastbreaks.
