Samuel Cole Samuel Cole 5'11" | PG Good Vision Academy | 2024 State TX – PSAT (2024)
Samuel has been one of the quickest and most impressive undersized guards I have been able to watch this summer, but he makes up for it with hustle and heart. Cole is a certified shooter from beyond the arc and has the ability to attack the basket, always spotting the open teammate for a quick pass or finishing through the defense. Samuel was part of an impressive backcourt for his PSAT squad in two victories against Atascocita and Bellaire, knowing when to score the ball and when to swing the rock. He will continue to play a leadership type role as the season drags on and will be vital to his team’s success, especially on the offensive end.
Anthony Andrews Anthony Andrews 6'7" | PF Bellaire | 2025 State #367 Nation TX – Bellaire (2025)
Anthony played the role of a stretch, versatile big in the scrimmages this weekend. He proved that the defense cant afford to leave him open for long range jumpers and even hit some shots from the midrange as well. He showed an impressive display of post moves under the rim and was able to score the ball against some tough post matchups he had throughout the course of his team’s two contests. Andrews was super effective on defense as well, not biting on pump fakes and often rising up to block the shot when his squad needed a stop. Anthony was a fun prospect for me to watch and I will be tuned into his season going forward as he will only continue to get better.
Kentrelle Royston Kentrelle Royston 6'3" | PG Aldine Nimitz | 2023 State TX – Legacy School of Sport Sciences (2023)
Kentrelle was an important part of his team’s success on the defensive end against CE King, despite coming up in a tough loss. Royston was never afraid to play the part of the aggressor on defense, often getting super physical with his matchup and causing a turnover. He also showed great effectiveness driving to the basket and finishing with contact over his matchup, often converting his foul shots as well. Coming off an impressive junior year at Nimitz, Royston transferred to Legacy to make a huge impact and based on this tournament, he is off to a hot start accomplishing that goal. Doodie, as he is known to teammates, is a very tough defender to blaze past and will also push opponents buttons on the offensive end. Kentrelle will look to play a big role as his team gets ready for some tough matchups this upcoming season.
Luke Martinez- Atascocita (2024)
Martinez was a knockdown shooter for his Eagles team this weekend, hitting many of his shots from behind the three point line and was constantly in motion. One of the more underrated parts of Luke’s game is how he moves without the ball in his hands, often setting backdoor screens for teammates or patiently waiting to spot up in the corner where his teammates will often find him for an easy bucket. Luke thrives in Atascocita’s swing and motion offense, where shooters will often find open looks from deep and get a chance to play a large role on the offensive end. He also displayed impressive lateral quickness on defense and was able to lock his matchup down for the majority of both contests his team played in.
