In the final week of single-game action at the Become Legendary Fall League at Jefferson High School, we were treated to a couple of highly competitive games between teams that figure to be playoff contenders this upcoming season. Here are some of the top performers we saw.

[player_tooltip player_id='1201007' first='Brady' last='Rice'] (2023 Beaverton)

Rice had his offensive game cooking on all cylinders in a win against South Medford. He knocked down open threes, used the dribble to generate space going to basket, and then used advanced footwork to fake out his defender to finish with creative scoop shots. He hit the game-winning free throw in sudden death overtime.

[player_tooltip player_id='1278329' first='Aidan' last='Rice'] (2024 Beaverton)

Completing arguably the best family-related duo in the state - Brady is his cousin - Rice had things going for him scoring-wise as well. He hit some deep threes but also had some strong drives to the basket that he converted through contact. A willing passer, he didn't force the action and also dished out some nice looking assists to teammates for scores.

[player_tooltip player_id='1268432' first='Chance' last='Winter'] (2024 Beaverton)

It's clear to us that Winter will be the key on the defensive end for the Beavers. He was an intimidator inside and blocked at least four shots that we remember, both in the paint but also running to close out on perimeter shooters. He wasn't a big part of the offense, but did face up and hit a couple of jumpers including a critical 10 footer late in the game.

[player_tooltip player_id='1110808' first='Boden' last='Howell'] (2025 South Medford)

We are pretty convinced that Howell is one of the best one-on-one isolation players on the state. He was pretty much unguaradable against Beaverton, as he used his dribble to break down defenders and either pull-up or step-back to hit jumpers with pinpoint accuracy. Howell's range went from down low in the post to out past the three-point line, making him a threat from anywhere on the court.

[player_tooltip player_id='1269430' first='Jackson' last='Weiland'] (2024 South Medford)

As unstoppable as Howell was, Weiland had an even bigger day. The point guard was deadeye from long range when open, but was also money with his pull-up jumpers from mid-range and creative finishes around the basket. What we love about Weiland is that he plays smart and almost always takes good shots when they are given. A recent 1500+ SAT score makes him arguably the top high academic junior in the state.

[player_tooltip player_id='1496237' first='Ty' last='Dahlin'] (2024 Crater)

Dahlin played with South Medford on Sunday but he's clearly still with Crater - he was even wearing a Comets jersey. Long and lanky at 6-foot-3, the junior calmly hit deep threes but wasn't afraid to create of the dribble and use his length around the hoop. While he ended up serving as a nice third offensive option for the Panthers, there's no doubt he'll be a featured guy at Crater this upcoming season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1197476' first='Kaden' last='Groenig'] (2024 Southridge)

At this point opponents should probably know by now you can't let Groenig's smaller size and youthful looks fool you or he'll kill you. That's exactly what he did against Jefferson, nailing jumper after jumper - especially late in the game when Southridge made a comeback. Groenig was also extremely shifty off the dribble and was able to get into the lane to score or dish to an open teammate.

[player_tooltip player_id='1110914' first='Carter' last='Fortune'] (2024 Southridge)

As he's done practically every week we've seen him at Become Legendary, Fortune was dominant on the offensive end. He got to the basket seemingly anytime he wanted against Jefferson, was able to finish down low, and also stepped out and hit perimeter jumpers to keep the defense honest. Always unselfish, Fortune capably looked for teammates as well as his own offense.

[player_tooltip player_id='1565739' first='Vitomir' last='Petcov'] (2024 Southridge)

The 6-foot-7 Petcov is very mobile and extremely light on his feet - you bet his experience as a high-level tennis player contributes to that. As we've noticed before, he runs the floor well and is rewarded for his efforts - in fact, it was his getting down the court that helped lead to him receiving the pass for the game-winning bucket against Jefferson. Petcov is quickly elevating his profile as a post player.

[player_tooltip player_id='1085781' first='Jeremiah' last='Stigler'] (2023 Jefferson)

A lot has been made of Jefferson's newcomers, but Stigler is back as the Demos leading scorer from last season. His three wasn't falling against Southridge so he made the choice to get to the hoop. When he got to the paint, the lefty was able to utilize his strong body and score over or through defenders.

[player_tooltip player_id='1582927' first='Adrian' last='Montague'] (2026 Jefferson)

This was our first actual viewing of Montague in live action and we certainly loved what we saw out of the freshman. The very first thing we noticed was that he's a natural leader, both with his play on the court but also vocally. He was strong with the basketball on drives, converting on a couple of floaters and also getting the ball to teammates for scores. We are still gathering detail on the Class of 2026 but we're pretty certain that "Fuzzy" will be near - if not at - the top of the initial rankings.
