Kansas Top 250 Expo Showcase GameChangers

Although it's only mid-October, there were some guys who were in mid-season form today at the one-day Top 250 Expo in KC. Of all the fine performances turned in, here are some who stood out GameChangers (in alphabetical order):
Brandl played with a ton of maturity and steadiness at the KC showcase. His team fell behind by a huge margin in his final game, and he helped the team keep it together and turn things around for a big come-from-behind win. He can do some of everything, and he can create scoring opportunities when needed. He’s a big guard who sees the floor and gets the ball to the right places.
There were a lot of good bigs at the Expo, but Lawson might just have been the best of them all. He was a monster on the block and was nearly unstoppable once he had his big hands on the ball. He defended and blocked shots. And impressed with a bunch of jams jumping off two feet with no momentum. It really wasn’t fair that he was teamed with his summer clubmate

Sanchez has a knack for putting the ball in the bucket. He is huge and powerful in the paint, has surprising agility and ball handling ability, and can really shoot it. He hunts shots on the perimeter, but showed Saturday that he’s serious about getting it done in the paint too. Having Sanchez on your team means you always have a go-to guy when you need to score.
Shields showed off a herky-jerky, start-and-stop action with the ball that keeps defenders off balance. His crossover is a blur and he appeared able to set up a defender to get his own shot whenever he wanted. He was one of the flashiest ball handlers in KC, and he provided his team tons of offense.
Highlights
One of the state’s elite players, Zeigler didn’t play with a big head or a me-first attitude in KC. He got his teammates involved and didn’t force the action. But he made some “wow” plays, including some no-look passes and several gravity defying dunks. This defending state champ was arguably the best guard in the gym Saturday.
