The first scrimmages of the 2022-23 season are two months away as teams are looking forward to the season. The point guard crop is ready to make an impact on the winter, especially ones flying under the radar. Here are the 2023 point guard prospects who could breakout.

[player_tooltip player_id='1269722' first='Raheem' last='Williams'], 6'0 Union Catholic

The Vikings are in store for a big 2022-23 season and Williams will be one of the ones running the offense. The 6'0 guard attacks the basket with a purpose as he is a good finisher around the basket and is unafraid of drawing contact. Williams uses his handle effectively and knows how to get to his spot on the floor. He gets his teammates involved in the halfcourt and is a tough on-ball defender. Williams can play on and off the ball, which will be key for Union Catholic this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1401558' first='David' last='Alexandre'], 5'9 Saddle River Day

Alexandre helped the Rebels win 20 games in 2021-22 and will be a big part of their offensive attack again this season. The 5'9 guard has a good handle, which he uses to get by his defender and finish around the basket. Alexandre is more than just a slasher as he has a nice release on his jumper and can shoot either off the catch or bounce. He is a good rebounder for a guard his size and plays with quick hands on the defensive end. Alexandre is a two-way guard prospect who should make plays all season long for Saddle River Day.

[player_tooltip player_id='1402086' first='Nikola' last='Borovicanin'], 6'3 Ridge

Borovicanin is an intriguing lead guard prospect as he has the potential to play on or off the ball. The 6'3 guard has a smooth shooting stroke and can knock down jumpers in bunches. Borovicanin moves well without the ball in his hands, setting himself up for easy jumpers and layups in the halfcourt. He has a nice handle and is a solid finisher around the basket. Borovicanin's ability to hit shots from distance is something that will help his stock throughout the 2022-23 season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1400501' first='Maurice' last='Crump'] & [player_tooltip player_id='933050' first='Jordan' last='Poole'], Burlington Township

Crump and Poole led the Falcons to the South Jersey Group 3 title game, and they'll be looking to take them back to the sectional final. The former has a good handle and a quick first step, which he uses to get into the lane to create plays. Poole is a crafty finisher around the basket and plays with good court vision in the halfcourt. They have a good chemistry together and can get deflections on the defensive end. Crump and Poole are speedy lead guards who will have Burlington Township in the hunt for a sectional championship this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='933917' first='Bryce' last='Butler'], 6'0 Life Center Academy

Butler had a strong summer for Rens United and it should carry over into the winter. The 6'0 guard has a tight handle and is not rattled easily by on-ball pressure. Butler can finish in a variety of ways around the basket and is not afraid of contact. He has a good release on his jumper and knows how to get his teammates involved in the half court. Butler is a true point guard prospect whose ability to command the offense will help his stock and Life Center Academy throughout the 2022-23 season.
