Daniel Mekonnen Daniel Mekonnen 6'3" | PG Eastview | 2026 MN is a 2026 six-foot-three-inch guard from Eastview. Mekonnen came on in the 2nd half for Team 9 versus Team 10 and showed he could make a few buckets around the rim. His size gives him versatility at the guard position, and even guard up if needed. Mekonnen is a secondary back-court ball handler and a solid passer from the wing.

Daniel was one of the top shooters I saw at the event, and was making defenders pay for giving him too much space from deep. Mekonnen has a high arcing shot with a pure shooting form, and it was falling at a high percentage from beyond the arc. In these type of settings where guys are playing with entirely new teammates, some players tend to hunt their own shots. I thought Daniel did a nice job of staying unselfish and sharing the ball, waiting for open looks rather than trying to do too much off the dribble.
