Michael Schneiderman | Prep Hoops Scout
Defensively made his mark early staying level headed and presenting on the ball pressure. Had him down for 3 steals pick pocketing the handler and turning D to O. Plays one of the two off guard locations. Cohesively fits in well with other perimeter players. Finished at the cup in traffic at an efficient rate. Likes to work in fast break opportunities and speed the game up. Quick off the bounce getting to the rack. Knocked down a couple catch and shoot 3’s as well within offensive flow. Finished with 22 of his own in a competitive matchup.

A quick-on-quick backcourt player who anticipates well and scores with regularity in transition, Hodges darted into passing lanes and came up with steals and layups several times for Beloit Memorial in its win over Sun Prairie East. A three-year varsity performer for the Purple Knights, Hodges scored 17 points for his squad while also giving up some good looks at the basket in order for his teammates to benefit from his passing skill. Hodges and Hereford make up one of the state’s quickness and most prolific backcourt combinations.

Hodges picked up his third foul with 10:33 left in the first half he sat on the bench until the start of the second 18 minutes. Although he got off to a slow start in the second half, he came alive over the final 12 minutes or so. He made a big steal that he converted to a layup and moments later buried a triple. Hodges also made a short jumper in the lane to finish with seven points. His ability to drive or shoot from the perimeter are assets the Purple Knights need to have so the foul trouble definitely hindered Beloit Memorial. Still, Hodges rallied in the second half and made some key plays for his team and his teammates.

Hodges showed several plus attributes in the 3v3 contest I watched him play. He’s smooth with the ball and has an instinctive sense of where his teammates are on the court. He was also dropping dimes, including an impressive dish to a cutting teammate out of a spin move. Hodges will also knock down shots from distance when the opportunity is there.
