Sunday was the final day of the Chicago Summer Challenge in Romeoville. The gym was action packed from morning until the final buzzer went off. Here are the players that stood out above the others.

Cayden Vasko (Fundamental U) 6’3 2023

Vasko was the prospect most thought shined the best on Sunday. Cayden is a slippery ballhandler that can score from all three levels of play. He has a continuous motor that annoys defenders. He has a go to move with a half spin jump shot. At times it just felt like he wasn’t going to miss a shot all day. Vasko rebounds, he brings the ball up at times, and he is even more dangerous off the ball when his teammates are setting screens for him. A for sure D1/ D2 target during the live period later this week.

Seth Joba (Corey Graham Elite) 6’9 2023

The big man had another solid performance on Sunday. Seth is a physical forward who seeks contact when in the post. He has solid hands and footwork around the bucket. He showed that he can be used as a faceup forward if teams back off him. Joba already has 4 offers and I’m sure he will pick up more once he plays in the live period

[player_tooltip player_id="939052" first="Matas" last="Buzelis"] (Full Package) 2023 6’11

The best player in the event was back for his last game and he put on a show. Buzelis started with blocks that led to fastbreak points. He then snatched rebounds from out the sky and proceeded to go coast to coast for some insane highlight dunks. Matas also was able to hit a couple of NBA side step three pointers to prove he was ready for the next level. He was in his full bag this weekend and if this was his last amateur game in Illinois before he turns pro I’m glad he did it at Prep Hoops.

[player_tooltip player_id="1215298" first="Mark" last="Nikolich-Wilson"] (Full Package) 2023 6’7

Big Mark had a tough matchup against Joba of Corey Graham Elite but as always he was up for the challenge. Mark is a player who gets smarter as the game goes along. In his matchup he started to figure out how to slow the big man down on defense and offensively he wore him down by playing point center sometimes and beating his man off the dribble. Mark is best when he is passing, rebounding on the offensive boards, and playing out of the post. He only adds to his game like hitting 3’s when the game comes to him. Coaches raved about him throughout the day as he made hustle plays and continued to make the right pass every time. Coaches don’t wait too long Mark will be a game changer in college.

[player_tooltip player_id="1371065" first="Quentin" last="Jones"] (FVV) 2023 6’5

Jones had another amazing outing on Sunday. He is a player who gets going on both ends of the floor. His length on defense disrupts teams and he had a couple plays where his defense turned into amazing offense as he got steals that led him to dunks. Quentin is rounding into a serious scoring threat with his attack off the dribble is getting better and better. He showed that he can make shots with defenders in his face. He will add more schools to his list after the 1st live period.

[player_tooltip player_id="1048322" first="Collin" last="Wainscott"] (IBA Stars) 2023 6’0

Collin is a point guard who has unlimited range on his shot. Against FVV he torched the nets with knocking down 5 threes in the game. Wainscott is a marksman that moves the ball well but is more of a threat when he’s shooting from deep.

Caleb Hannah (IL Jaguars) 2023 6’5

Hannah is a long and athletic wing that can push the ball like a guard. He is fun to watch when he’s getting to the rim with his athletic finishes. Caleb seems to be in attack mode now that he knows who he is as a basketball player. He also was able to hit a few threes during the day. A sure scholarship talent after a year of prep school.

Jaiden Harrison (Corey Graham Elite) 2024 6’3

Harrison is an exciting guard who can score with the best of them. He was more of a passer on Sunday finding the best position for his teammates. Jaiden worked well off ball screens turning the corner at times and hitting shooters in the corners. Harrison already has numerous colleges checking in on him and being able to switch from a scorer to a lead guard will be a huge part of his recruitment.

[player_tooltip player_id="1385291" first="Jeremiah" last="Fears"] (Hoops 4 Health) 2025 6’1

Another young floor general that’s playing up two levels. Fears can control the game both ways as he has knowledge of the game far beyond most guards. He pushes the ball well on fastbreaks does a great job sharing the wealth to his teammates. Jeremiah scores the ball within the flow of the game. When guys go under ball screens he makes them pay for it. Fears will be a high major guard when he’s a senior and he’s already making high major plays.

[player_tooltip player_id="1048386" first="Jaloni" last="Johnson"] (Flee Club) 2023 6’2

Jaloni is a shifty guard who gets to the bucket with multiple dribble moves. He at his best when getting in the lane and scoring through contact. Johnson is also a weapon from deep as teams go zone to keep him out of the lane. Jaloni was a 20+ point scorer for most of the games this weekend. A player that’s wired to score like he does should be on many colleges radar.

[player_tooltip player_id="939035" first="Donaven" last="Younger"] (Flight) 2023 6’10

Younger is playing well into going into this summer live period. He has been a much better scorer around the rim as of late. Donaven has added a three point shot to his arsenal while also being very strong in the pick n roll game. Younger runs the floor like a deer and has become a solid finisher on fastbreaks. His improvement on the court will lead to more scholarships offers at the end of July.
