The event takes place at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, and will feature 100’s of teams from around the West Region. Several local teams will be participating in this event, which will provide a terrific exposure opportunity for the players. In this article, a follow-up to Players to Watch Part 1 we take a look at some local players to keep an eye on.
Jamison McCall Jamison McCall 6'0" | CG Spring Valley | 2024 State NV 6’0 CG Spring Valley 2024 (#15PHN 2024) – McCall has the signature skill of shooting in his favor. The combo should provide floor spacing, and can also take some of the scoring load of Adem. He has always been a guy capable of changing the scoreboard from behind the arc. What to watch for this week, is his ability to make plays for himself and those around him.
Khaman Maker Khaman Maker 7'1" | C Trinity | 2024 State #127 Nation NV 7’2 C Sierra Vista 2024 (#3PHN 2024) – All eyes would be on Maker regardless of the team he was playing for, now all eyes will be on him as he runs with one of the up-and-coming 4A programs in the state. Maker brings size, but he also plays the game with an edge. People will be looking at his offense while gauging his size, I’m just looking to see how he fits in to SV’s system.
Andrew Miller Andrew Miller 6'3" | SG Palo Verde | 2025 UT 6’3 SG Palo Verde 2025 (#5PHN 2025) – Miller is one of the more exciting players in the state, and he may be one of the more exciting players at the event. A big-time R&J guy that can shoot it, looking to see if he’s improved his passing, and handle. I’m also of course looking to see if he throws down a monster dunk or two.
Caprice Brown Caprice Brown 6'5" | SG Spring Valley | 2024 State NV 6’5 SG Palo Verde 2024 – Got to see Brown play on the Prep Hoops Circuit, so I’m excited to see him running with Palo. He has a good frame and is a knock-down shooter, especially from the corners. He played well when I saw him the last time I was in Phoenix, so now I’m simply looking for consistency.
Casen Lochridge Casen Lochridge 5'7" | PG Mojave | 2025 State NV 5’9 PG Mojave 2025 – Lochridge is one of the players I’m most interested in seeing. He joined Mojave late in the season and saw mostly JV minutes last season. I’m interested in seeing not only what areas he has improved but also checking out how comfortable he is now that he has had more reps under his belt.
Cole Ellena Cole Ellena 6'9" | C Liberty | 2024 State NV 6’10 C Liberty 2024 – Ellena is one of those kids that people have been waiting to pop. He has size and is one of the top high academic players at the event. His best skill is his shot-blocking ability, however, he will be counted on to score more for the Patriots this season. Looking to evaluate his ability to rebound and score, which I believe is what a lot of scouts and coaches will be watching for from him.
