Continue ReadingOver the weekend several of the top 16U grassroots teams from southeastern Pennsylvania traveled to the Hoop Group facility in Manalapan, New Jersey for the Jersey Shore Jam Fest. Additionally, one squad competed at Nike EYBL Session III in Louisville, Kentucky.
Below are the southeastern PA grassroots 16U team rankings for Week #6.
- Team Final EYBL: Dominant combo-guard Robert Wright III Robert Wright III 6'0" | PG Montverde Academy (FL) | 2024 State #35 Nation FL (4 ppg. and 6.4 apg.) led the way as Team Final 16s racked up a 5-1 record at Nike EYBL Session 3 (Louisville, KY). Thomas Sorber Thomas Sorber 6'9" | C Archbishop Ryan | 2024 State #58 Nation PA held it down on the interior – 12.5 ppg. and 8 rpg. Lethal perimeter shooter Jalil Bethea Jalil Bethea 6'4" | SG Archbishop Wood | 2024 State #5 Nation PA averaged 14.3 ppg. while shooting 53.5% from deep. Bethea posted a weekend high 25 points (4/7 on triples) in TF’s win over The Family (DE).
- Philly Revolution: Two weekends ago at The Summit (Manheim, PA) the Revolution concluded their spring season by “playing up” in the 17s age group and posting a 2-1 record. Overall, this talented squad was 15-3 during the 2022 spring circuit. This spring Josh Reed (Big Shots- Philly Pride age group MVP) became a superstar. Teammates Kevin McCarthy Kevin McCarthy 6'4" | SG Episcopal Academy | 2024 State PA , Rocco Morabito and Alex Best all posted impressive springs. Standout Jaden Murray Jaden Murray 6'7" | PF Archbishop Ryan | 2024 State PA did not make his expected return from injury. When he debuts in July, this squad will go to the next level.
- Philly Pride National UAA: A “bye” week did Philly Pride ‘s top 2024 team a world of good as this past weekend they looked extremely sharp at the Jersey Shore Jam Fest. They posted a 3-0 record and their average margin of victory across those games was 20.3 points. Long range sniper Greg Guidinger Greg Guidinger 6'6" | SF Central York | 2024 State PA was outstanding. Rising star Toby Ojukwu was impressive as well. Standout wing Jeremiah White Jeremiah White 6'6" | PF Imhotep Charter | 2024 State PA returned from a long injury absence and looked solid in limited minutes.
- K-Low Elite 3SSB: At the Hoop Group Jersey Shore Jam Fest this squad went 2-1. Three level scoring threat Darren Williams Darren Williams 6'4" | SG Archbishop Ryan | 2024 State PA posted a monster tourney. Three-point ace Reid Belcher Reid Belcher 5'11" | PG Friends Central | 2024 State PA and 6’8” wing shooter Pearse McGuinn Pearse McGuinn 6'8" | PF Cardinal O'Hara | 2024 State PA knocked home triples all weekend. Matt Lange’s point guard play was outstanding. Lange got better with each event this spring. He is a prospect to watch come July.
- East Coast Power-Danzig: ECP-Danzig squad ended their spring circuit the previous weekend with a 3-1 showing at The Summit tournament (Manheim, PA). Matt McCarthy (20 ppg. at The Summit) was impressive all spring. Point guard Billy Rayer Billy Rayer 5'10" | PG Haverford Boys | 2024 State PA is a smooth operator who is flying under the recruiting radar and shooting guard Ryan Pegg Ryan Pegg 6'0" | SG Malvern Prep | 2024 State PA came on strong over their last two tourneys. 6’7” forward Calvin Szoradi Calvin Szoradi 6'7" | C Episcopal Academy | 2024 State PA was a beast on the interior. The scary part is this squad was not fully healthy all spring. If they are at 100% in July, look out.
