There was tons of talent in both the 17U and 16U division, and we’ll take a look at them starting with part three featuring some of the top 2024 prospects in attendance.
Rob Dockery | 6’6” WF | Team Loaded VA 17U 2024
Dockery continues to impress this summer as he looks like one of the top 2024 prospects in the DMV, and a lot of it has to do with his versatile skill set on the offensive end. He’s just a naturally gifted player with a strong frame and good athleticism, he’s a very good playmaker off the bounce with good vision and he has great footwork and balance allowing him to create space and make shots. He impacted the game across the board for his Loaded group and made a lot of winning plays for them.
Jayden Harris Jayden Harris 6'8" | SG Potomac Va | 2023 State VA | 6’5” WF | Team Loaded VA 16U 2024
“Juke” as he’s known by teammates and coaches had a great showing at the event, showing that he should be in discussions for national rankings moving forward. He was lights out from deep hitting 8 three’s in one game, he has good size on the wing to get his shot off and he’s not just a one trick pony as he can put it on the deck and is great with hesitations and straight line drives. He has great tools moving forward to be one of the top shooters in the 2024 class.
Eli DeLaurier Eli DeLaurier 6'8" | C Miller School | 2024 #173 Nation VA | 6’8” PF | Team Loaded VA 16U 2024
DeLaurier continues to impress with his long term upside and potential, as the 6’8” forward has a nice inside-out game to go along with a good motor and toughness as well. He runs the floor hard and has become more explosive vertically to finish above the rim, he can step out and hit the three on pick-and-pops and in the trail spot and he walls up and protects the rim defensively. He’s also the type of kid who doesn’t care how banged up he is, he’s always going to go out and compete against anyone.
Shanon Simango Shanon Simango 6'6" | PF Blue Ridge | 2024 State #301 Nation VA | 6’6” PF | Team Loaded VA 16U 2024
Simango came late to the event but he played in both Loaded 16U and 17U’s final games and showed that he is continuing to improve and be as productive as they come for a big man of his style. He’s a little undersized but he’s very strong and plays with a great motor, he runs the floor hard and finishes above the rim and he’s one of the best rebounders you’ll come across on both ends of the floor. He does all of the little stuff and brings great energy to his team when he’s on the floor.
Cam Sampson | 6’1” CG | Circle Sports 17U 2024
It was my first time getting to see the combo out of Clover Hill, but after the way he played I would be hard pressed to say that he could be one of the breakout players in the Richmond area next season. He’s a skilled guard who is shifty and can create off the bounce, he can score the ball off the bounce from multiple levels and he plays with a chip and competitive edge too. He had multiple games of over 20 points and looks like he’s just scratching the surface with how good he can be.
