Brett Chapple, 6’5, 2019, Lawrence
Kid is an old-school grinder who does all of the little things and does them at a high level. He defends, he hustles, he moves without the ball, makes his free throws and he is all over the boards. He’s the kind of guy a winning team needs. He finished with 11 points and led the Lions with nine rebounds.
Miles Emery, 6’5, 2018, Blue Valley North
Emery is a football standout who already holds a Division I offer from Louisville, but he showed this week that he is a force to be reckoned with on the hardwood as well. Emery opened with a big game against Olathe Norhtwest and finished by leading the Mustangs with 11 points and eight rebounds in a loss to Free State in the third-place game against Free State. He is a strong, physical player who uses his athleticism to face up opposing big men and attack them to the bucket. He will be a force on the court next year.
Darrien Jackson, 6’3, 2017, Blue Valley Northwest
It would be hard for Jackson to raise his stock as the Tulsa commit was already among the most highly regarded players in the state, but Jackson showed what the hype is all about in the state tournament, going for a game-high 26 points in the championship game and leading his squad with eight rebounds as well. He is an attacking guard with the ability to get to bucket and finish above the rim.
Clarence King, 6’1, 2019, Lawrence
King is a large part of a terrific sophomore class at Lawrence and he had a day in the finals against Blue Valley Northwest, scoring 19 points, including a 3 for 5 performance from 3-point range. He is a big frame guard with the ability to run the point and get the Lions in its offense, or play off the ball and look to score. He has a lot of upside and has raised his stock in the 2019 class over the past month.
Garrett Luinstra, 6’2, 2018, Free State
He continues to impress with his solid, all-around game. Luinstra is an old-school point guard who is a solid floor general with the ability to lead a team. He is also a terrific outside shooter.
