Run N Slam: Top Kentucky Performers

<p>I round out my Run N Slam coverage by looking at the top players from the Bluegrass state. These 5 guys played hard in their matchups and proved to be high upside prospects moving forward.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1110297" first="Caleb" last="Brooks"]</strong> (2023) <em>Cooper (Grand Park Premier)</em></p> <p>Brooks has a lot of length that he uses for a Grand Park Premier team with a lot of guards and wings. Doesn’t have a ton of muscle on him, but at 6-foot-9, he creates issues with his length on the wings. Even without the overwhelming build, Brooks performed well on the block, backing down his defender and creating opportunities to perform with his back to the basket.</p> <p><strong>George Washington</strong> (2023) <em>Louisville Christian (All Ohio-Red)</em></p> <p>Washington is part of a talented All Ohio-Red team that I watched defeat Team FVV Saturday. Washington can shoot the ball well and once he gets hot it’s tough to keep him off. Polished game overall and highly confident with the ball in his hands. Not surprisingly committed to Ohio State and is rumored to be moving to Dayton to compete for his senior year of high school ball.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="939117" first="Travis" last="Perry"]</strong> (2024) <em>Lyon County (Indiana Elite 3SSB)</em></p> <p>Perry sets up himself to succeed. Utilized the dribble to create separation for his jump shot which is fundamentally clean. Crossover dribble is smooth to create the opportunities. Very patient to get his looks whether it be to get shots off or distribute to his bigs. Great court vision in the half court setting. Perry is fundamentally solid, but lacks the flare as some of other prospects I watched.</p> <p><strong>Nathan Vinson</strong> (2024) <em>Highlands (Shining Stars-Price)</em></p> <p>Vinson was impressive for Shining Stars in their loss against Power 5. Bouncy as hell either controlling the glass or defending the rim. Times his jumps when blocking shots. One of the more intriguing players on the Shining Stars team that lacks volume scorers.</p> <p><strong>Jaylin</strong> <strong>Ellis</strong> (2024) <em>Western (Midwest Basketball Club 3SSB)</em></p> <p>Ellis is scrawnier for a 2024 and impressed for Midwest as they were down some guys from their normal team. Has some upside being 6-foot-8. Raw in some areas but promising as a rebounding threat for Midwest or for Western.</p>
