2017 Rankings Breakdown : No. 10-1
Prep Hoops is in its last segment of counting down the 2017 class. Here are the final 10 players in the class.
#1 – Jalek Felton – Gray Collegiate (picture on front)
Felton a University of North Carolina signee started his career at Mullins HS. Felton averaged 26.3 ppg, 4.8 rebounds and 5.4 assists this season for the War Eagles. The War Eagles fell short by losing to Region Foe Keenan in the Upper State Championship Game. Felton scored over 2,600 career points.
#2 – Nicolas Claxton – Legacy Charter (Greenville)
Claxton a Georgia signee played his last game at Legacy Charter this past weekend at the USA National Prep Championships in North Myrtle Beach, SC. Claxton started for 3 years at Legacy Charter. Claxton averaged 13.1 ppg and 6.7 rebounds this season for the Lions (26-10). Claxton finished his career with over 1,200 career points.
#3 – Mamoudou Diarra – 22 Feet Academy
Diarra a Washington signee is playing this weekend in Phoenix, AZ at the Grind Session World Championships. Diarra 6’9 is a ultra athletic player who can play above the rim. Diarra runs the floor like a deer.
Jordan Davis
#4 – Jordan Davis – Dutch Fork
Davis a Dayton signee didn’t play in his teams defeat to Goose Creek in the playoffs. Davis was out sick for that game. Davis was named Class 5A State Player of the Year. Davis will suit up in the NC-SC All Star Game next weekend in Myrtle Beach.
Temetrius Morant
#5 – Temetrius Morant – Crestwood (Dalzell)
Morant averaged 27 ppg this season. Morant finished his career with 1,727 points for the Knights. Morant will play in the Ohio Valley Conference next fall at Murray State University. Morant has one game left to play in the NC-SC All Star Game.
Tariq Simmons
#6 – Tariq Simmons – Keenan
Simmons finished his career at Keenan HS with a loss in the 2A State Championship Game to Burke HS. Simmons a Citadel commit averaged 18.4 ppg, 4.8 rebounds and 2.7 steals this season for the Raiders (22-6).
Simmons finishes his career with 1,827 career points. Simmons will lace them up one more time next weekend in the NC-SC All Star Game.
Clyde Trapp Jr.
#7 – Clude Trapp Jr. – Lower Richland
Trapp Jr. capped off a magical season with a Class 4A State Championship victory over Wren HS. Trapp Jr. a Clemson signee will play in the NC-SC All Star Game next weekend in Myrtle Beach.
Duane Moss
#8 – Duane Moss – Carolina Forest (Myrtle Beach)
Moss sure didn’t have the senior season he wanted for the Panthers. Moss got hurt n the Panther Holiday Tourney before Christmas and never got back on the court again all season long. Moss 6’7 finished his career with 1,010 points.
Moss a Youngstown State University signee might be looking for a new school as Head Coach Jerry Slocum decided to step down. Prep Hoops will keep you posted on this matter.
Jason Cudd
#9 – Jason Cudd – Socastee (Myrtle Beach)
Cudd will take his game to Colonial Life Arena and the University of South Carolina next fall. Cudd 7’0 finished his career for the Braves with exactly 1,000 points. Cudd averaged 18.7 ppg, 8 rebounds and 2.2 blocks this season for the Braves while shooting 69% from the floor.
Cudd gets to play in front of the home crowd one more next weekend in the NC-SC All Star Game at Socastee HS.
#10 – Mumin Tunc – 22 Feet Academy
Tunc 7’2 from Turkey is playing this weekend in Phoenix, AZ at the Grind Session World Championships. Tunc who attended IMG Academy in the past is very skilled player for his size. Tunc remains the only player in the Prep Hoops Top 10 without a school for next fall.
