BDH Stock Riser Showcase: Player Preview

<p>Big Drip Hoops (BDH) is one of a few organizations that host exposure camps throughout the year. Like the majority of these showcase-style events, players sign up individually to compete in an environment built for opportunity. Players don’t have to worry about getting benched for a mistake or playing in a role they’ve been forced into. This event is designed to give everyone a chance to show their game without the limitations of a traditional basketball team. But what is different about BDH showcases? The players are put into eight teams that are coached by high school and college coaches. They are separated into pools and compete for a championship like an AAU tournament. Each player gets a taste of freedom, competitiveness, real coaching, and the pressure of exposure. There will be 72 prospects playing at Auburn Mountainview High School on Saturday, and over 15 college coaches are expected to be in attendance.</p> <p>Here are 7 players to watch this weekend:</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="674428" first="Tre" last="Blassingame"] (2022) - 6’5 SG - Auburn/Seattle Rotary</strong></p> <p>Tre just got done playing for a national championship. State player of the year, League MVP, and an All-Area selection. He has a solid case for being the top player in the state and there is no doubt that the kid is fun to watch. He defends at a high level, has an elite mid-range game, and plays the game with smooth confidence.</p> <p><strong>Dirk Plakinger (2022) - 6’5 SG/SF - W.F. West</strong></p> <p>Dirk may be a player that most haven't seen in the Seattle area. He plays in Chehalis but his resume speaks for itself. The All-Area MVP has all the accolades to go along with his game. Dirk is a wing that has been a beast in SW Washington all year. With huge scoring outputs on the year and ESPN-worthy dunks in his back pocket, Dirk should turn a lot of heads this weekend. </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="931313" first="Asjon" last="Anderson"] (2022) - 6’2 PG/SG - Mount Tahoma/Oregon Prospects</strong></p> <p>Asjon needs no introduction. After averaging over 30 points this season it is crazy to think he is still unsigned. Many people take notice of his shooting ability but what is special about Asjon is his speed. He rebounds amongst the trees and then beats everyone down the floor. His speed, elite finishing package, and off-the-dribble shooting make him a problem for most defenses.</p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1416316" first="Parker" last="Baumann"] (2023) - 6’5 SG/SF - Shorecrest/BDH Elite</strong></p> <p>As of today, Parker is unranked in WA. I don't expect that to last too long given his skillset. Parker is a "big guard." He rebounds like a big, handles like a guard, and plays the mid-post like an old-school wing. Parker was 1st Team All-League, 2nd Team All-Area, and averaged 20 points, 9 rebounds, and 6 assists. The showcase should be the platform needed to raise his stock. </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1270611" first="Levi" last="Pepper"] (2023) - 6’6 SF - Selah/Seattle Select High Academic</strong></p> <p>Levi is one of the top players in the state for a reason. An unselfish scorer who is always a triple-double threat. He not only plays the right way but he is fun to watch. At last year's showcase, Levi showed his ability to play both on and off the ball. He is ranked in the top 10 and is next in line of the Pepper brothers to play college basketball. </p> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1270690" first="Elijah" last="Cain"] (2023) - 6’2 SG - Kentridge/BDH Elite</strong></p> <p>Elijah is coming off a historic state-run with Graham Kapowsin. He uses his strong frame and impressive shooting ability to score in a variety of ways. In a junior season that included multiple double-doubles with rebounds, Elijah is a no-brainer for college coaches. This event should give Elijah a chance to show he can play with the best of the best in the state. </p> <p><strong>Blake Stempniak (2024) - 6’3 SG - Kentwood/FOH Seattle</strong></p> <p>Blake is known as Logan Stempniaks' little brother don't be mistaken, Blake has a game of his own. Only a sophomore, he comes off a season where he started all year and proved he could develop into a top shooter in the state. Blake is not a kid you can lose sight of or defend with a hand down. His quick release and willingness to move without the ball make him a real threat.</p> <p>&nbsp;</p>
