Wayne Trace is in our top 10 Division III teams and they won the small-town showdown of the event on Saturday afternoon with a strong performance, headlined by Laukhuf. Committed to Ohio Dominican, Laukhuf had an efficient scoring afternoon by making the game simple. Taking one and two dribble pull ups plus leaking out in transition made the 29 point scoring effort look effortless. Expect to hear a lot about Laukhuf in the GMAC as a freshman as he’s got the talent to be an instant contributor.

The Ohio Buckets program has done an excellent job of grabbing the top small-town talent in NW Ohio and Laukhuf is the latest to shine on the grassroots scene with the Buckets and commit to a scholarship program. Laukhuf had a handful of Division II programs interested and decided to commit to new Ohio Dominican Head Coach Casey Kaufman this summer. After leading Wayne Trace on a crazy run to the elite eight last season, we’ll see what Laukhuf has in store for an encore this winter.

Another committed prospect rising up our ranks is Laukhuf who committed to new Ohio Dominican Head Coach Casey Kaufman. Laukhuf brings good size to the guard position and is capable of playing on or off the ball with the ability to knock down shots off the catch or dribble. One of the more productive small school talents in the state, Laukhuf helped Wayne Trace to a miracle upset of Toledo Emmanuel Christian in the district finals. Laukhuf will be a prospect who helps win games at the Division II level and help start the turnaround of an Ohio Dominican program that hasn’t won double digit games since 2019-20.

The Ohio Buckets were a main attraction for a lot of college coaches at the event and in the one game I caught of them against Team Loaded 757, Laukhuf was a key piece to their victory. A lead guard with impressive size, Laukhuf can play on or off the ball. A clutch pull-up 3-pointer then a spot-up 3-pointer the next possession gave his team some breathing room and they were able to hold on to the victory. I was also impressed by Laukhuf’s hands on both ends, being active defensively and catching passes in traffic. I think Division II and NAIA programs should be all over Laukhuf and he might leave Fort Wayne next weekend with a couple offers if he continues his impressive play.

The first of two Ohio Buckets guards making this article, both earn stock riser status due to their play with their high school teams. Laukhuf led Wayne Trace to a district title and came so close to making it down to Dayton. A guard with size, good pace and an elite shooter off the bounce, it’s likely regional scholarship programs won’t be waiting very long to offer him. Laukhuf’s signature regular season performance came at the OG Winter Classic where he dominated against Tiffin Columbian, he then followed that up with a deep playoff run. His first spring weekend with the Ohio Buckets was filled with efficient scoring performances, showing he can do it against stiffer grassroots competition.

Laukhuf was the top performer of the day, scoring 30+ points and single handedly keeping his team in the game. His first 12 points came from behind the 3-point line. I was also impressed with some of his dribble moves with the ball in his hands, making some tough mid-range shots off isolation moves. With his size, skill and shooting ability, Laukhuf will have no issue getting scholarship offers from Division II and NAIA programs this summer.
