Louisiana Standouts at the Uncommon Exposure Camp in New Orleans

The Uncommon Exposure camp invaded the New Orleans area Final Four weekend. Coach Russell Vanlandingham and his structured, college-style camp hosted 30 preps and junior college transfers from Louisiana, Texas, and other areas to Crescent City High in Metairie. Throughout the 4 hour camp, there were many players that showed the ability needed to make a roster on the college level. In this exclusive review, I will review some of the top performers from Louisiana during the day at Crescent City. Bryce Bickham (Lakeshore) Bryce Bickham was one of the more impressive forwards from the Boot during the UCExposure camp. His effort was at a high level all day especially on the defensive end. He had several blocks during the camp either playing straight up, providing help, or chasing down players in transition. The 6’4" forward’s most impressive quality may have been the way he battled guarding taller, stronger players. Bickham does not give up. He is definitely one who is under the radar. His rebounding, defense, and effort warranted a spot in the top prospect game. [player_tooltip player_id="1055176" first="Jasen" last="Breaux"] (Southside) The junior guard may have a slight frame but he is as tough as they come. His day at the Uncommon Exposure camp consisted of showing his toughness along with his ability to play the point. Breaux is always on balance. He absorbs contact very well when he attempts to finish at the rim or when penetrating the paint. Breaux is good at feeding the post and he has excellent movement trying to relocate for open shots. Breaux may not have made the top performers final game; however, he was definitely one on this day. David Hayden (St. Michael’s) Hayden probably won the effort award on the day for the way he threw his body around. The 6’2" guard dove after loose balls, created turnovers, and took more charges than anyone on the day. His hustle provided extra possessions for his team during scrimmage play. Hayden was willing to do whatever it took for his team to win. His play during the scrimmage sessions and the way shot the ball earlier in the day showed that he can be a prospect who contributes to a team on the next level. Jace Patin (Brother Martin) The 6’2" guard from Brother Martin was another Louisiana player who made it to the top prospect game by being good at what he does. Early in the day, he competed very well in the competitive drills Coach Vanlandingham used. When it came to scrimmage play, he showed that he was very gifted in the mid-range. He has a textbook two dribble pull-up from the elbow and elbow-extended that he buried consistently. Patin also rebounds well for a guard and is not afraid to push the pace. He was the model of consistency throughout the day at Crescent City. He showed off his ability to pull up from anywhere and knock down a jumper. He displayed great lift on his shot which made it tough for defenders to even get a hand up. He was good at sprinting to spots on the floor and preparing early for passes. He also showed solid rebounding ability from the wings. His day finished with him playing in the top prospect game which was a testament to the work he displayed during the day. Tyler Jones (Riverdale Academy) Jones is a solid shooter and he proved that during the early sessions of the day. The shooting drills displayed what he is good at which is moving without the ball and spotting up quickly. Moving into scrimmage play, Jones proved that he is a very willing passer and is very good at seeing things before they happen. He had several interior passes into tight spaces that were also eye-catching. Jones ability to feed the post and his movement off the post was top notch as well. These things helped him make the top prospect game. He performed well all day. His camp on April 24th at LeTourneau College in Longview, Texas will be another chance for Louisiana preps to attend. It is 60 miles west of the Louisiana state line.
