Palacios, a 5-10 point guard from Sunnyside High School, is a pass first player that relishes involving his teammates.
“I would describe my game as very unselfish,” Palacios said. “I’m a pass guard first that can also shoot, and I am always willing to defend the best opposing player.”
One of his best qualities is how patient Palacios is, and how high his basketball IQ is.
“My IQ is good enough that I can see things before they happen which allows me to make passes that most can’t,” he said.
The main aspect of Palacios’ game that he wants to work on is using contact in the game to his advantage. Another angles of his game that he says he needs to improve on and as hesitant as he is to say it is, “I guess be more selfish.”
Palacios has had scouts come to his games and has received some letters, but he said nothing serious has come yet. His goal is to play at the next level and he knows it will take lots of hard work and dedication. He’s hoping that this spring and summer when he’s playing AAU that he’ll be recognized more.
Meanwhile, he just finished his junior season at Sunnyside High School and will play another year in the 4A Columbia Division to help his recruiting process.
“The 4A Columbia Division is great because there is a lot of talent and teams are all matched up evenly,” Palacios said. “It’s just a matter of who’s ready to compete that night.”
This past season Palacios averaged 16 points, nine assists, five rebounds and four steals per game.
