Per usual, the Indiana High School Basketball scene will be buzzing on this Friday night with several great games around the state and our staff here at Prep Hoops Indiana will be bringing you all of the coverage. Here are five of the top games that you will want to follow this evening.
Brownsburg @ Zionsville
It is hard to have as good of a weekend as the Bulldogs had last weekend. Brownsburg picked up back-to-back wins over Westfield and Carmel to move to 11-6 on the season. The double weekend sweep turned the heads of pollsters and prognosticators around the state. Tonight, they will travel to 10-3 Zionsville to face a banged-up Eagles squad. Logan Imes Logan Imes 6'4" | PG Zionsville | 2023 State #202 Nation IN has missed the last three games since sustaining an ankle injury against Brebeuf Jesuit and Isaiah Davis Isaiah Davis 6'9" | PF Zionsville | 2022 State IN has been in-and-out of the lineup. How close Zionsville is to full strength could well determine the outcome of this matchup.
Carmel @ Ben Davis
Carmel, 11-4, had just taken over the #1 spot in the Class 4A rankings before losing at Brownsburg last weekend. Now, they will look to get back into the win column against a Ben Davis team that has struggled of late. The Giants had rattled off 11 straight wins before a one-point overtime loss in the Marion County Tournament championship. Now, they have fallen to 12-4 with a loss at Decatur Central and barely squeaking out a one-point win at Center Grove. Can Ben Davis get back on track tonight with a statement victory over the Greyhounds?
Eastern (Pekin) @ Springs Valley
For fans of small school basketball in southern Indiana, this is the game for you tonight. Larry Bird isn’t walking through that door, but Springs Valley has won seven straight games and has an 11-3 overall record. Senior guards Kannon Chase and Carter Crews average 17.5 and 15.5 points per game respectively. Freshman wing Deion Edwards Deion Edwards 6'5" | SF Springs Valley | 2025 State IN is a prospect to watch as well. For 13-2 Eastern (Pekin), senior wing Cade Jones Cade Jones 6'3" | SG Eastern-Pekin | 2022 State IN and junior 6’10″ forward Jacob Cherry Jacob Cherry 6'9" | C Eastern-Pekin | 2023 State IN lead the way.
Gary 21st Century @ Hammond Central
Despite being a 1A vs. 4A matchup, these are two of the best teams in “The Region” this season. Gary 21st Century is now the #1 team in Class 1A having won five straight games against 3A and 4A competition. Hammond Central is on a nice winning streak of their own rattling off six straight. The backcourt matchup between Gary 21st’s Ashton Williamson Ashton Williamson 6'2" | PG Gary 21st Century | 2023 State #287 Nation IN and Hammond Central’s Jordan Woods Jordan Woods 6'2" | PG Hammond Central | 2023 State IN will be fun to watch. Those are two of the best guards in the Class of 2023. Look for wings D.J. Moss D.J. Moss 6'4" | SF Gary 21st Century | 2023 State IN and Quinten Floyd to ultimately be the x-factor for Gary.
Warsaw @ NorthWood
Up north this evening we have Class 3A #3 NorthWood with their 15-1 record against an up-and-down Warsaw team that enters at 10-5. Tigers recently handed Peru their first loss of the season and are coming off a big win over Valparaiso, but sandwiched in between is a loss to Concord. As for the Panthers of NorthWood, they have won seven straight games coming into tonight’s matchup. The battle of 2023 guards Cade Brenner Cade Brenner 6'3" | SG NorthWood | 2023 State IN versus Jaxson Gould Jaxson Gould 6'3" | SG Warsaw | 2023 State IN will be a fun one to watch for sure.
