The week of December 13th I viewed six games that featured AZ players. Three of the game were at Perry HS in Gilbert, AZ and the other three were in Las Vegas. Nevada at the prestigious Tarkanian Classic.

Here were the games I covered:

Perry vs Mountain Freshman

Perry vs Mountain JV

Perry vs Mountain Varsity

Then I viewed Dream City Junior team, Phhoenix Prep Black and Bella Vista Prep in Vegas.

Here were some of the Upperclassmen Standouts:

2022’s

[player_tooltip player_id="701228" first="Dylan" last="Anderson"] Perry

The top big man in the AIA had a good game. He had 18 pts with 10+ rebounds. He hit his usual jumpers from both levels, knocked down his FT’s and also showed a nice touch with hook shots. He outlets the ball impressively to his guards and when he is playing well, the Pumas are hard to beat.

[player_tooltip player_id="994506" first="Rickey" last="Bradley"] PHH Prep

A physical downhill and tough scoring PG. He can defend multiple spots on the floor and attacks the basket with power and grace. He has impressive body control around the opposing post players and mixes it up on defense. His feel has improved in the last year, which is not an easy thing to pull off. He had D1 coaches turning their heads in the game I viewed.

[player_tooltip player_id="973815" first="Kyle" last="Waters"] Perry (Pictured)

Waters played off of the big-3 flawlessly. He got to his spots on the court and moves without the ball. He shoots it from mid to the 3pt line and can run the floor for transition layups. He plays good fundamental defense and brings energy to each game.

2023’s

[player_tooltip player_id="831114" first="Cody" last="Williams"] Perry

A long and lean combo guard. He played the role of lead guard most of the game. He facilitated for almost 10 assists. He can hit the deep-3 off the catch, he can float it in plus rebound and take it coast to coast.

[player_tooltip player_id="814036" first="Tru" last="Washington"] Mountain Pointe

A well built guard keeps improving his skill. He hit multiple mid-range jumpers plus a 3. He can still get downhill with the best of them scoring through contact. He can rip through, euro his way to the cup and rebounds unusually well for a guard.

[player_tooltip player_id="814039" first="Mark" last="Brown Jr"] Mountain Pointe

A tough scoring point guard is another that rebounds better then his height may suggest. He has the much needed floater and he can pull-up from mid to the 3 off the dribble. He threaded a couple passes to teammates.

[player_tooltip player_id="1008612" first="Julian" last="Roberts"] Bella Vista Prep

A face-up 4/5 drilled 3-4 3’s effortlessly. He has a quick release and the long player rebounds in his area. He cuts in the lane when he should and finished through contact showing some toughness. When he gets rolling, he is tough to stop.

[player_tooltip player_id="1168771" first="Nait" last="George"] Dream City Christian

A scoring point guard who can catch and shoot from the 3pt line. He plays the game with a high IQ and sees plays developing quickly.
