25. Woodlawn-Shreve (20-5)
Despite being just above .500 since the new year, Woodlawn-Shreve has been playing some very tough teams, and are still right in the middle of the race for the chamionship in 4A.
24. John Curtis (22-6)
Now that the Patriots have lost twice to Brother Martin, its going to be tough for them to win their district, despite a win against St. Augustine. The Crusaders seem to have John Curtis’s number this year.
23. Lincoln Prep (25-4)
Despite dropping a big one this week, against Arcadia, the Kittens still have some quality wins, under their belt, but it will now require a playoff just to win their district.
22. New Iberia (19-7)
The Yellowjackets have had a very good year up to this point, and are in the mix both a top 5 seed in 5A, and winning one of the toughest districts in basketball this year.
21. Southern Lab (19-5)
The Kittens make their debut in the Top 25, coming in as one of the hottest teams in the state, winning 14 of their last 15, with their only loss coming in a 6 point loss to Madison Prep. They have some impressive wins for a 1A team, including wins over St. Michael’s, Mckinley, and East Ascension.
20. Rayville (21-5)
Rayville has been dominating their district from the very beginning, and is currently on 9 game winning streak. Rayville is the only sliver of hope in 2A from keeping Madison Prep from accomplishing another state title.
19. Dunham (19-4)
Dunham has been dominating all season long, with their only losses coming against teams in this Top 25. As of right now, Dunham is the odds on favorite in a very tough Division 3, which is a year ahead of what most people thought heading into this season.
18. St. Paul’s (21-5)
St. Paul’s is another team on a hot streak, winning 13 of their last 14, with their only loss coming against Madison Prep. After a shakier start than expected, things are starting to come together at the right time for Coach Dale in his first season.
17. Riverside Academy (16-6)
The youth on this team is starting to show through at this point, dropping some games that they shouldn’t have lost. However, Riverside has played in the state championship game every year since Coach Timmy Byrd arrived in 2009. Could this be the first year the Patriots don’t?
16. Bossier (21-5)
The Bearkats have only lost to one team since November, dropping two games to cross-district foe Fair Park. In both games, Fair Park was able to slow the game down, winning both with only 38 and 35 points, respectively. Could this be the key to defeating Bossier come tournament time?
