Below are six southeastern Pennsylvania prospects you need to keep an eye on for the remainder of the fall and during the 2021-22 high school season, because they are sure to move up significantly in our next set of rankings.
119… Trey Shinholster Trey Shinholster 6'2" | SG William Penn Charter | 2023 State PA – 6’2” / Penn Charter / K-Low Elite / Combo Guard: Shinholster is one of the preeminent 2023 scoring guards in the region. Shinholster can shoot the lights out from all levels and is he gets hot from behind the arc, look out. As a bonus to his perimeter shooting, Shinholster can attack off the dribble to then finish at the rim with either hand. A high motor athlete, Shinholster’s energy and effort on defense compliment his scoring skills. Shinholster is a prospect with tremendous upside, and we will be keeping an eye on him this fall/winter.
170… Aris Rodriguez Aris Rodriguez 6'6" | SG Reading | 2023 State PA – 6’3” / Reading / Reading KTB / Shooting Guard: Rodriguez is a knock down shooter who can drain threes and pull up mid-range jumpers all day. He was a nightmare to defend throughout July (20 ppg. across all contests), but especially at the AAU DII World Championships in Orlando, FL where he was age group Co-MVP of the event. In one game during the trip to Florida, Rodriguez posted 25 points on 5 made threes. Rodriguez helped Reading KTB win the 16U/10th grade division at the AAU DII World Championships. A natural scoring / shooting guard, Rodriguez plays with pace and thus puts consistent pressure on defenses. The attention he draws creates space for his teammates and Rodriguez will not hesitate to move the ball to an open shooter.
224… Colin Bowman Colin Bowman 6'2" | SF Friends Central | 2023 State PA – 6’2” / Junior / Friends Central School / K-Low Elite / Wing: A highly skilled wing player with a nearly automatic stroke, Bowman has the potential to be one of the best shooters in the state. Bowman can drain the three and mid-range jumpers. His height, strength and handles enable him to get to his spots and create scoring opportunities for himself. Bowman can score in transition by attacking the basket or spotting up for a 3PA. Even with all his scoring ability, Bowman is an unselfish player who will not hesitate to pass the rock to an open teammate. According to FC Head Coach Mike Cook, Bowman’s ball-handling is improving to the point where he could run at PG this winter and if he continues to improve, at the next level as well.
261… Michael “Zaire” Paris Michael “Zaire” Paris 5'11" | CG Archbishop Ryan | 2023 State PA – 5’11” / Archbishop Ryan / Philly Revolution / Combo Guard: Paris is a lefty backcourt player with elite speed who plays a slasher style of game. In 2020-21 Paris was a valuable role player for PIAA 5A state tourney runner up Archbishop Ryan. This summer while “playing up” for the Revolution’s 17U squad, Paris showed he is ready to take on a much bigger role at Ryan this coming season. During June and July, Paris scored at the rim whenever he wanted — in transition and in the half court. Across three games at the Southern Jam Fest (VA), Paris averaged around 24 ppg. and posted a 30-point effort. As a bonus to his offensive skills, Paris owns a high motor and is a menace on defense who produces steals and deflections.
279… Jake Warren Jake Warren 6'10" | C Downingtown West | 2023 FL – 6’10” / Downingtown West / Philly Pride / Power Forward: If you saw Warren play on the summer circuit, then you know he defines the modern day “stretch-4” prospect. He can score with his back to the basket or from three-point line. He is extremely athletic, so he runs the floor swiftly and will finish with either hand. Warren is also a very skilled passer who when doubled will move the ball to the open teammate. Warren’s size and wingspan make him a well above average shot blocker, team defender and rebounder. In 2020-21 he scored a season high 23 points vs. WC Henderson. With the improvement in his skills and the muscle he has added to his frame, we expect numerous 20+ games from Warren this winter.
292…Kyle Jones, Jr. – 6’3” / Junior / Father Judge / B.A.N.G. Up / Combo Guard: New Head Coach Chris Roantree added this high-level transfer from Langston Hughes HS in Georgia and he will have an impact right away. Whether he is leading the break or filling a wing, Jones, Jr. is fantastic in the transition game. This combo-guard can also shoot the 3-ball at a high clip and is especially deadly from the wings. Back in January of 2021 he drained 7 threes on his way to 23 points (as well as 5 rebs; 4 stls; and 4 blks) vs. Troup County (GA). At the defensive end, Jones, Jr. has a habit on anticipating where the ball is going and then knifing through the passing lane for a steal. Jones has received offers from DePaul and Virginia Tech
