Our goal will be to get coverage for as many of the participants as possible so be on the lookout for articles throughout the week from our staff with coverage on the hoopers in attendance. The 250 Expo KC held at Hy-Vee Arena on Oct. 3 brought together some of the top high school talent across Kansas and Missouri. The style of play and abundance of talent made it hard for some players to stand out.
Makaen Hastings Makaen Hastings 5'11" | PG Salina South | 2023 KS , 5’10 PG, Solomon, Team 4: Had himself a really good event, especially shooting the ball from deep. Got it done knocking down shots off the catch and off of his pull up jumper game. In game 1 had a massive first half scoring the basketball and shot it extremely well. Pushed the ball with tempo and made plays in transition and brought energy on the defensive end of the floor.
Kaeson Fisher-Brown Kaeson Fisher-Brown 6'2" | CG Derby | 2023 KS , 6’2 SG, Derby, Team 4: Was a massive standout on the day from the 2023 group. Extremely crafty with the ball in his hands, gets to his spots with ease, and hit a ton of tough contested shots. Has a good frame and is pretty strong on the court. Finished well in the painted area off both one and two foot plays. One of the better players in general on the day. Showed he could play some point guard minutes as well, making some really nice plays in transition with the ball and coming off ball screens.
Eli Shetlar Eli Shetlar 6'4" | SG Andover | 2023 State KS , 6’5 G, Andover, Team 8: His versatility shined on the day getting it done in all aspects of the game. Rebounded the ball, kicked the ball ahead for assists, ran the floor himself and got easy buckets, knocked down threes, handled the ball in transition, and finished in a variety of ways at the rim. Stats were not officially being kept, but Shetlar would have filled up the stat sheet in all 3 games.
Eli Sawyers Eli Sawyers 6'7" | SF Southeast Of Saline | 2023 State KS , 6’5 W/F, Southeast of Saline, Team 11 (Pictured): Had a fun matchup going down with Missouris Cole Griesemer Cole Griesemer 6'5" Hillcrest | 2023 KS in one of the ball games last night, and Sawyers was putting on a show with the entire repertoire. He made plays for others, sprinted the floor for layups, scored a couple of times in the post, hit some shots, and made some plays on the defensive end. His ability to influence the game in multiple ways allows him to really shine in exposure events no doubt about it.
Jack Voth Jack Voth 6'6" | PF J.T. Hoggard | 2023 State NC , 6’5 F, Buhler, Team 1: Voth was the man throughout all 3 games. Had a couple of really nice post seals that led to finishes, shot the ball extremely well from 3 as were accustomed to seeing, and had a couple of really nice plays finishing off of dump down passes on the baseline. Voth had moments as well leading the transition break with the ball and making things happen. If Voth can put together the full array of components to his game this high school season as he did last night, he is primed for a monster year.
