Let’s look at the top 5 prospects for the class of 2024
#1 TJ Williams TJ Williams 6'5" | SG Wichita Heights | 2024 State #176 Nation KS , 6’3, Guard, Wichita Heights, Run GMC: Williams is special prospect who has already earned state honorable mention nods in his early career, and was an explosive guard for a super talented Run team this spring and Summer. Averaged 8 points, 3 rebounds, and 1.5 assists last year in his first run of HS action and expect, monster numbers this year. Very unique skill set with his length, being a lefty, and his spring in his step. Great creator with the basketball in his hands both in the half court and transition.
#2 Andrell Burton Andrell Burton 6'4" | SG Campus | 2024 State #213 Nation KS , 6’5 Wing, Campus, Buddy Buckets: This spring and summer you could not find a prep hoops event or tourney Burton was in where he didn’t earn a ton of praise from both in state and out of state scouts and coaches. He is the real deal as a wing prospect, playing up at the rim, a great slasher/finisher, can guard all over the floor, and brings a ton of versatility on the offensive end. Averaged 6 points and 3 rebounds last year for a loaded Campus team, and should have All State numbers and success this year taking the reigns for the program.
#3 Michael Kates Michael Kates 5'9" | PG Maize South | 2024 State KS , 5’9 Point Guard, Maize South, Buddy Buckets: A pure floor general who was tremendous this summer running the show along with Burton for a tremendous Buddy Buckets team. Sees the floor extremely well, puts his teammates in great spots to score the ball, and can push tempo and make plays for himself or others. Great handle of the basketball and can handle pressure, traps, or blitzes off ball screens. Elite type of point guard right here and with more time on the floor, expect the stock to grow and grow on the college side of things. Started at point guard for Collegiate as a freshman and will now be joining a Maize South group with a ton of talent that should now be poised to make a solid run at it this year.
#4 Kaiden Abasolo Kaiden Abasolo 6'0" | CG Mulvane | 2024 State KS , 6’1 Guard, Mulvane, WKE: Averaged 6.2 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.4 assists for Mulvane last year and will be taking more of the responsibility of handling the scoring duties with his older brother graduating after last season. Solid knockdown shooter of the basketball, bigger bodied guard, and can guard a number of spots. Already plays with a ton of confidence and poise on the floor, look out for a really solid sophomore campaign.
#5 Jeron Askren Jeron Askren 6'3" | SG Maize South | 2024 State KS , 6’3 Guard, Maize South, Buddy Buckets: The 15U Buddy Buckets team was really special last season, with their third member in the top 5 with Askren. A knockdown shooter from the perimeter with great size as well. Put up some really high level games out on the perimeter for Buddy Buckets over the summer going off for multiple 20+ point efforts and really showing off his ability off the catch. Rebounds the ball at a high level as well from the guard spot. Tough on the defensive end as well.
