brings an interesting blend of shot making ability and size at the guard position to
Jersey Force
‘s 17U backcourt. Possessing a compact release, Hidalgo is a versatile and efficient shot maker that can shoot it from three point range off the catch and off the dribble. Hidalgo is also capable of operating as a secondary ball handler— possessing a strong handle and an unselfishness to get his teammates more involved and often times make the right read. Look for Hidalgo to build off the strong senior season he had at Paul VI that saw him win a Camden County championship into AAU season.

Fresh off scoring his 1,000th career point earlier in the month, Hidalgo came out firing and never looked back, scoring eight points in the opening quarter en route to a game-high 20 in the wire-to-wire win. He was most effective as a shotmaker, showing deep range and consistent mechanics while knocking down three 3’s. He wasn’t a one-trick pony, however, showing a poised and physical attack off the bounce while bringing consistent energy to the floor. Clearly the emotional leader for his team, Hidalgo’s versatility would be a terrific value for a small-college program with scholarship-level coaches having reason to be intrigued late in the cycle.

Hidalgo has seen lots of growth this season in his game as the long and athletic point good looks to keep attacking and destroying defenses. At 6’4″ Hidalgo can guard almost every position on the court and uses his athleticism to attack the rim whenever he can. He looks to be aggressive in fastbreak situations and can fly up and down the court. He’s also turning into an excellent two-way player as he will look to get multiple steals and blocks throughout a game and lockdown the other team’s best perimeter player.

Hidalgo is an athletic and lengthy point guard standing at 6’4″ who can do many different things on the court. Since he’s so tall he will usually have the height advantage on his matchups leading to him getting more steals. He excels in the fastbreak and likes to draw contact when going to the rim. He can play multiple positions within an offense and can also be used as a spot-up shooter on the wings to spread the offense out.

Hidalgo is a long point guard standing at 6’4″ in which he uses that size to his advantage. He can back down players at times in the posted area and go straight up over a smaller defender. His high release point paired with his height makes it difficult to get a contest on his shot. Hidalgo controls the ball well and can dribble in and out of the midrange area to find his shot. He will also look to finish at the rim using his long strides driving into the paint.

Hidalgo is a player that uses his size to his advantage on the defensive end. At 6’4″ Hidalgo can play and guard multiple positions and switch onto any assignment on the perimeter. His long arms allow him to swarm ball handlers to force turnovers that lead to easy transition points. Hidalgo is also great at guarding inbounds passes making sure his assignment does not get open by any means.

Hidalgo is an excellent two-way point guard that never takes a play off. He applies heavy pressure to ball handlers when he is on defense using his long 6’4″ size to swarm and trap them. He will look to force double teams in the corners to force ball handlers to turn the ball over. Hidalgo will not give anyone he is guarding an inch of room to get around him. On offense, he has a smooth shot that looks effortless releasing from his fingertips. His catch-and-shoot ability is lethal with contests doing little to alter his shot. Hidalgo can get into his shooting motion no matter how difficult of a situation he is in.
