The new school year sets to start this coming week for many schools in the Lowcountry . Who were some of the 2022 Palmetto State players in attendance that stood out when we were in the gym.
Dylan Williams Dylan Williams 5'11" | PG Irmo | 2022 State SC – Irmo HS – Big Shots Elite SC Premier (pictured on front)
Williams is just a absolute gym rat and seems to be playing every weekend. Dylan will not be playing football this coming season for the Yellow Jackets. Williams informed Prep Hoops he’s looking to visit High Point University sometime this fall. Dylan will be starting his 5th year on roster for Head Coach Tim Whipple after playing as a 8th grader. Williams is shifty with the ball and does a good job of changing directions and pushing the ball up the floor.
Don Douglass Don Douglass 6'9" | PF Spartanburg Day | 2022 State SC – Spartanburg Day – Big Shots Elite SC Premier
Douglass kept getting better each time we were able to see him play the past few months. Don has a very high academic profile in the class room and really likes to go to work down low in the paint. Douglass has a soft set of hands and nice jump-hook around the cup. Douglass does a good job of keeping the ball up high after rebounding it. Don still must get stronger down the road but still looks to have his best basketball in front of him.
Colin McKenzie Colin McKenzie 6'5" | SG First Baptist | 2022 State SC – First Baptist (Charleston) – Big Shots Premier / Team Salley
McKenzie joined the Big Shots team this weekend after playing all summer with TMP . McKenzie is a wing player with a great stroke out on the perimeter. Colin can extend the defense with his ability to knockdown shots well behind the 3-point line.
C.J. Bennett-Shaffer C.J. Bennett-Shaffer 6'5" | SF Cane Bay | 2022 State SC – Cane Bay HS – Big Shots SC Select
C.J. showed some good glimpses in a opening round loss. Bennett-Shaffer played more aggressive today than I had seen in the past and actually played with a purpose at times. C.J. has grown some in looks like in the past few months along with adding some muscle to his frame. Can C.J. be the leader for the Cobras this coming season moving forward?
Miles Stickney Miles Stickney 6'5" | PF Oceanside Collegiate | 2022 State SC – Oceanside Collegiate (Mount Pleasant) – NSW
Stickney played very well back in June at the SCHSL #SCLive2021 Team Camp in Rock Hill. Miles knows where is bread his buttered down low on the block. Stickney likes to play the game on contact and sure won’t overwhelm you with any one thing he does. Miles brings great effort and consistency every time he gets on the floor. Stickney is crafty around the basket with a head-fake at times and a great set of MITTS.
Elijah Horton Elijah Horton 6'1" | SG Summerville | 2022 State SC – Summerville HS – F.L. Elite
Horton really plays the game to the fullest while on the floor. Horton was able to attack the basket by slashing to the cup or could knockdown a open 3-pointer from behind the arc. Elijah does a really good job of staying active from the ball.
Robert McLeod Robert McLeod 5'8" | PG Cane Bay | 2022 State SC – Cane Bay HS – NSW
McLeod 5’8 point guard is a fun player to watch when it comes to causing havoc on the ball. McLeod plays the game with a fearless attitude and mindset. McLeod a lefty was able to get the ball into the paint at times and plays the game with a pass first mentality.
