Brooks Hinson Brooks Hinson 6'1" | PG Marshfield | 2025 State #251 Nation WI – 2025 – G – Wisconsin Playground Club
Another good incoming freshman to know, Hinson helped PGC survive a scare against Dime Nation (AZ). Hinson rallied his team with a flurry of 3-pointers and one in the final minutes that pushed PGC into the next round of bracket play. A skilled, crafty guard, Hinson is more than just a shooter. He can handle the point duties and create offense with the drive and dish. Hinson has good size (6-1), is tough with the ball, and values each possession even in up and down games that can turn into track meets. Hinson will attend Marshfield High School next season and looks like he’s capable of carving out a role as a freshman.
Pierre Hunter – 2022 – G – Gators Elite
Hunter was unstoppable for large parts of the game against Team 1848. Gators Elite may have come up short in a two-point loss, but Hunter went down swinging. The 6-foot-2 combo guard was outstanding with the pull-up off the dribble. Hunter got to his right hand whenever he wanted and has a beautiful stroke in the mid-range. Everybody knew the pull-up was coming, but Hunter still found ways to get rhythm jumpers off the bounce. He also showed he could counter with a hesitation to get defenders off their feet and blow-by to the rim. Hunter finished with 23 points on Saturday.
Eli Schmidt Eli Schmidt 6'5" | SF Neenah | 2022 State WI – 2022 – F – Team 1848
Schmidt had 16 points, seven rebounds, and three assists in a win over Gators Elite (TX). The Neenah forward scored the first eight points for 1848 and carried them through a slow start. Schmidt was excellent against the zone, busting it by getting into the high post and making the right pass or attacking the soft spots. A smooth, versatile prospect, Schmidt can shoot from the outside and also has some nice post moves/footwork down on the block. Starting to play his best basketball at the right time, look for Schmidt to be a potential x-factor for a very good Neenah program as a senior.
Caleb Shaw – 2022 – SG – D1 New Mexico
Shaw is a good-looking shooter. He’s got strong positional size at 6-foot-5. Most list Shaw as a point guard, but he’s a pure sniper that can knock down contested shots and doesn’t need much room to get into a rhythm. Like the way he feels the defense as well. When defenders are bearing down on him, Shaw quickly swings the basketball to an open teammate, which often results in a great shot as defenders fly at him upon the catch. Shaw just went off on Saturday in a win for D1 Mexico, getting hot early and never slowing down.
Ryan Sweeney Ryan Sweeney 6'2" | CG Gb East | 2022 State WI – 2022 – G – Team 1848
It’s not only time to put Sweeney in the top 50, he might be pushing top 30 status after this weekend. He might not look the part. There might not be any part of his game that a college coach/scout would describe as “special.” He doesn’t draw a lot of attention to himself. But the kid can play and his production throughout the spring/summer has been as good as anyone in the state. Sweeney dropped 26 points, seven rebounds, and two assists in a win over Gators Elite (TX) on Saturday. The opposition couldn’t check the 6-foot-2 guard who’s scoring from all three levels consistently and in a variety of ways. WIAC programs should be praying that Sweeney falls and Division 2 programs should be traveling up to Minnesota next weekend to watch the Green Bay East standout.
