Continue ReadingIt has been a great year for Benet 2017 guard Jack Nolan. The point guard drilled jumpers from all over the floor at the Pontiac Holiday Tournament and has continued it since. That is what he does at a high level. Nolan can really shoot the ball from the perimeter particularly off the catch from three. Mixes in some improved ball handling working particularly well around ball screens. Solid passer in the half court making sound reads and crisp dishes. High priority D3/NAIA prospect that is getting some D2 looks!
He spoke with us about his senior season.
“Senior year is fun. It has been a great time with all the guys. We learned a lot from our early losses to St. Viator and Conant. We have bounced back from those games. I think I am playing pretty well. I have stepped into a bigger scoring role this season. Last year we had a really balanced team. This year it has been more necessary for me to score. Also it is important to make others around me better. That has been my role this year.”
Nolan has really showcased his point guard skills and playing on the ball more with his high school team. With Mercury Elite he was more of a spot up shooter.
“I have always been a point guard really. Over the summer I played more off the ball working in the backcourt with Tai (Bibbs). He will be a point guard at the next level. I have been a point guard my whole life. Ball screens I have worked on that a lot over the past two years. Coming off them and not just creating plays for me, but for my teammates around me.”
Where do things stand with recruiting?
“I have taken visits to University of Chicago and Washington University. I have offers from Lewis and St. Francis. I am still talking to St. Thomas, Augustana, and Illinois Wesleyan. American University also called.”
He told us what will be important in a school for him.
“Academics first. Mostly a good balance of academics and basketball. I am not just looking for a good experience for the next four years, but something that can get me started with my life after.”
