I mean, college coaches were in attendance, so it was only fitting for each kid in an uniform to put forth a 100 percent effort.
I was in attendance for the final day of The Platform and came away impressed with a handful of prospects.
Here are Sunday’s best performances.
Carlos Speed, Mid Michigan Wolves 16U: Speed was impressive in his team’s win over Tennessee Edge 2023. He had 14 points in the win, and those points came at a pivotal point of the contest. The Wolves trailed by double-digits for most of the game and had to fight, scratch and claw their way back into the game. Right around the six-minute mark, Speed started knocking down shots and crashing the boards. With help from his teammates, the deficit vanished and the team that wanted the win the most was standing tall in the end. Speed played hard on both ends of the floor. He played under control and with confidence, despite having to play from behind.
Elijah Holt, Grand Rapids Thunder 2023: Shooters keep shooting. That’s what Holt did in a win over Team Loaded NC. Late in the contest, the 5-foot-9 guard made shot after shot from 3 when his team couldn’t find any offense. The opposing team kept leaving him wide open, and each time Holt was in shooting motion, he knocked down daggers from the left wing. Holt was superman for the Grand Rapids Thunder 2023 on Sunday.
Ezechiel Aime, East Coast United 2023: The 6-3 point guard is a rising sophomore that does a lot of good things. Aimed plays hard-nosed defense, rebounds at a high rate, runs the floor well in transition and is very unselfish. In his team’s 57-56 win over Born Ready 2023, Aime’s 14 points included some putbacks and a handful of mid-range jump shots.
Nicholas Jones–Hill, Born Ready 2023: Hill played huge in his team’s loss to East Coast United 2023. His 18 points had his team in position for a victory. The 6-3 wing made some tough shots in the second half. Hill made 17-foot fadeaway jump shots, took his defender to the rim and drilled in 15-foot jump shots. He was able to pick his spots on the court. Hill took a lot of smart shots and got to his spots with ease.
Colton Ralston, NuBreed Elite 2023: For the second-consecutive day, Ralston was huge for his team. The sniper made a corner 3 against Queens City Prophets 2023 to give his team a lead it wouldn’t relinquish. The 6-4 wing finished with 17 points and proved to be the team’s best scoring option. Ralston also proved to be the team’s most reliable offensive weapon.
