is a very skilled player that is an important part of the Atascocita High School basketball team. The reason is because he plays the right way on both ends of the court. On offense he is a sharpshooter that shoots with confidence off the catch and off the dribble. He is a facilitator that makes the right pass to open teammates to set them up for quality shots. On defense he is a great defender that has a long wingspan that he uses to take up space picking up ball handlers on opposing teams and get steals in passing lanes. Jerrell is currently committed to play at Brown University next year with a lot of potential to grow.

Jerrell is a major weapon for Atascocita when he is on the floor as he excels in multiple components of the game. He is excellent off the catch and shoot from long range or he can also shoot off the high pick and roll as well. Barron uses his long wingspan on defense to deflect passes and also block shots on the perimeter, as well as crash the boards for rebounds. Jerrell is also very vocal on defense and continues to make his presence known every time he steps on the court. He is one of the top 2024 prospects I have seen this summer in Houston that has continued to raise his stock from the summer going into school basketball season.

Jerrell Baron Jr. looks prepared to have a breakout summer after averaging 8.5 points per game on 50% shooting from three-point range and 100% shooting from the foul line at Session 1 of the EYBL. Barron Jr. showcased great concentration while shooting contested jumpers, nothing threw his form or balance off, each shot looked the same. This sharpshooter’s ability to knock it down with a hand in his face set him apart from other jumpshooters and is one of his most translatable traits. Jerrell ran the floor with a purpose, allowing him to put his knack for stretching the court on full display while sprinting to the corner in transition for open three-point opportunities. He even did an amazing job of relocating himself beyond the arc after passing or receiving a screen. The 6-foot-4 guard also showed good shooting mechanics, he excelled when his feet were set, and he caught the ball while going directly into his shooting motion fluidly.

put up 12 points and 4 rebounds and made the biggest plays of the game of two separate occasions, first by drawing the contact and foul call on Seven Lakes’s center giving him his fifth and final for the game. After sinking both free-throws Barron Jr. brought the game within two points and things changed for Atascocita drastically quickly taking the lead only a play later. In the closing seconds,

received a perfect and well timed off-ball screen at the top of the keep from 6-foot-4 senior Lawrence Thompson before catching the ball while stepping into his jumper before hitting nothing but net to give the Eagles a 60-57 point lead leaving 0.3 seconds on the clock. Barron’s bravery, winning mentality, and clutch shot making stood out in a major way and resulted in a huge win for Atascocita.
