Demarius Jacobs (Uplift)
The SIU commit rose from #15 to #11 in the new rankings. The reason for this is his outstanding early season play for Uplift. Much of the hype was about his younger brother who is already committed to Kansas, but Demarius has without a doubt been one of the most dominant players in the state of Illinois this season. It starts with what he does on the defensive end of the floor. Elite shot blocking guard that can also defend on the perimeter at a high level. Jacobs can score it slashing in transition and has range on his jumper. Impact MVC player for four years.
Marvin Nesbitt Jr. (Butler College Prep)
Nesbitt is a commitment to UMKC that has made the jump up to #23 in the latest rankings. The senior from Butler Prep is the first player in the history of his conference to sign with a D1 program. He is a super athletic wing that can score at all three levels. Explosive in transition and has potential on the defensive end.
Chris Harris (Lake Forest Academy)
Harris has always been a great role guy for the Illinois Wolves on the grassroots circuit over the last few years. The athletic and strong wing can defend, rebound, and is a team first player. As a senior he has proven to be able to score at a high level along with stuffing the stat sheet. Harris has posted some big scoring games in the first half of the season. He moved from #55 to #38. Should be looked at by low-major programs.
Alton Thompson (St. Patrick’s)
Thompson moved to St. Patrick’s from California for his senior year. He has ELITE athleticism. One of the top high fliers in the state. Long strides in transition and finishes above the rim with force. Solid perimeter shooter and the chance to be a great defender guarding opposing wings. He debuts at #42.
Martrell Barnes (North Lawndale)
Barnes is another prospect that is making his debut in the rankings. He has flown under the radar throughout his career, but exploded as a senior. The 6’2” shooting guard is a power wing that can really defend. Tough rebounder for his size. As a scorer he can hit a mid-range jumper, but is most effective getting to the hoop and scoring in the paint. Debuts at #62. JUCO Prospect.
Austin Richie (Bloom)
St. Cloud State got a steal in this Bloom wing. When we have seen Richie in the past at his former high school and on the grassroots circuit he was mostly a spot up shooter. Stand on the wing and let it fly. He is a sound shooter from the wing spot with a thick body. Where he proved to us his improvement was scoring off the bounce and impacting the game in other ways beyond shooting. That helped him move from #146 to #71.
