Illinois 2017 Top Small College PGs
Who are some of our favorite Small College Point Guard prospects still on the board? We look at them here after our recent update to the 2017 rankings.
Jack Nolan (Benet)
Nolan is at the top of this list because of his lights out shooting ability. He can flat out drill threes off the catch. Has improved his ball handling and passing as well. Priority D3/NAIA kid.
Grant Wolfe (Effingham)
Love the competitiveness and IQ that Wolfe brings game in and game out. Plus mid-range shooter that can also stretch it to three on occasion. Knows how to run a team and get others involved. High D3/NAIA prospect.
Octavius Parker (Kenwood)
Parker is a rangy combo guard that has had a very solid senior season. He is at his best when spotting up from three where he can get really hot from distance.
Allonte Pickens (Curie)
Pickens is also a point guard that excels shooting it from the perimeter. Quick guard that pushes it in the open floor.
Joey Coffaro (Hersey)
Coffaro is a crafty guard that can handle it a little and is a plus shooter from the perimeter. Solid set up man getting others involved.
Jason Towers (St. Joseph’s)
Towers is an athletic combo guard with good size and acceleration off the bounce. Potential on the defensive end. JUCO target.
Arthur Carter (East St. Louis)
Carter has had a great senior season. The strong and stocky lead guard hits open pull up jumpers and is willing to take it to the lane for contact at the rim.
Calvin Hill (Kenwood)
Hill is coming off a strong summer where he elevated his stock running the show with Young & Reckless. Pass first point guard that understands the game.
Bryson Langdon (Kenwood)
Langdon is very much like his backcourt mate at Kenwood. The Utah transfer pushes the tempo in transition and would rather get others involved than score himself.
Rico Sylvester (Belleville East)
Sylvester is a point guard that can play some off the ball where he can hit occasional shots from three. Has improved his ability to run a team and dish over the last year.
Trey Mack (St. Ignatius)
Mack has quality size and slashing ability. The lefty is playing with a lot of confidence as a senior both scoring and getting others the rock in position to do damage.
Justin Shadowens (Marion)
Shadowens is a crafty point guard that can really shoot it. He is effective in stop and pop from mid-range. Also stretching the floor shooting it from three with consistent accuracy.
Yaakema Rose (Springfield Lanphier)
Rose is a smaller point guard that is built like a bowling ball. Power point guard plays with a never ending motor and is not afraid to attack the hoop among the trees. Tough kid.
Neshawn Brooks (Peoria Manual)
Brooks has always been solid, but is playing at an even higher level as a senior. Strong point guard that can score at all three levels.
Steven Ross (North Lawndale)
Rangy point guard that is a solid on ball defender and can also stretch the defense with his perimeter shooting.
