The Whitepine league has long been one of the premier 1A DII conferences in the state and it was easy to see why when the district and state tournaments rolled around in March. As I have finally completed reviewing each and every conference’s all-conference team, I can truly say that there are great players that can be found anywhere in the state. Continue reading for a look at the top players from the 1A DII Whitepine All-Conference team this past season.
Brayden Stapleton, Deary: Stapleton had a great season for Deary and proved that he is one of the best shooters in the state at any level. Brayden was a match-up nightmare for most teams as he tired out defenders while running off of screens and shooting the ball from anywhere on the floor. There was no such thing as a bad shot for Stapleton and he showed that he can score on anyone in the state. Brayden could also score in a variety of other ways and his expanded game truly made him a tough cover.
London Kirk, Deary: Kirk finished his senior season on a high note for Deary, despite being upset and knocked out of the state tournament. Kirk was a constant source of instant offense for Deary throughout the season and could score at all three levels when needed. He had a great handle on the ball and really limited his turnovers this season. On defense, London provided a lot of heart and energy which kept Deary motivated in close games that went all the way down to the final minutes.
Parker Brown Parker Brown 5'8" | PG Timberline | 2023 State ID , Timberline: Brown had a breakout season toward the end of the year and still has two years of high school basketball left to leave his mark on the game. Parker scored well for Timberline when they needed it most and provided a spark at times when their offense became stagnant. Parker received a lot of quality minutes this past season and will use those to expand his game and find ways to score on opponents during upcoming seasons. Watch for Parker to have two more great seasons and become one of the best players in the state at the 1A DII level.
