The event took place at Inspire courts, Friday, April 30th through Sunday, May 2nd, and showcased a total of 67 teams ranging from ages 15 to 17U. The event also showcased several very intelligent players. In this article, we take a look at some of the top high academic players from the event.
Talmage Stucki 5’11 PG Idaho Premier BST 2023 – Stucki isn’t simply brains, he also is a heck of a player. The PG shot the ball well this weekend for IP and had a couple of big scoring games including a 25 point performance. In the classroom, he sports a 3.8 GPA.
Dalton Peterson 6’3 CG Wyoming Power 2021 – Peterson was one of my favorite Combo guards to watch. There shouldn’t be much of a surprise that he multi-task so well. The high IQ cerebral guard is a 4.0 student that has signed with Casper College.
Cory Wood 6’6 SF Team RHJ 2023 (featured image) – Wood could have very easily made my top Snipers list. The 6’6 wing was automatic all weekend including putting up a 22 point effort behind the strength of 4 Trey’s. He’s a 4 in the classroom as well, as in a 4.0 student.
Landen Giles 6’2 SG Utah Force 2022 – Giles’s ability to finish around the rim was impressive. He had a knack for spinning the ball off the glass from all angles. Apparently, he also has a knack for success in the classroom, as the Utah scoring guard rocks a 3.9 GPA, making him the perfect fit for the right high academic university.
Jayden Wilson 6’2 SF EP Matrix 2022 – Like a bunch of the EP Matrix guys Wilson is a classic overachiever. He played well all weekend as an undersized 3, showing the ability to score both around the rim and with his outside shot. He also showed that there’s quite a bit of brain to go with that talent, evident by his 4.0 GPA.
