As usual, there was a makeover to the 2022 player rankings.
Here are six players that made a jump in the rankings.
Justin Morgan Justin Morgan 6'6" | SG Memphis Nighthawks | 2022 State TN , MHEA: The 6-foot-6 wing jumped up 58 spots to No. 12. The 6-foot-6 wing has been productive on the offensive end for Team Thad 17U so far this summer. Morgan has been making shots from the perimeter, especially from 3. Being an offensive specimen isn’t new for Morgan. The kid has been a handful because of his length and ability to shoot off the dribble. Morgan is also a pretty good slasher. He knows how to move without the basketball.
Grant Strong Grant Strong 6'4" | SG Clay County | 2022 State TN , Clay County: Strong moved up 54 spots to No. 11 in the updated 2022 rankings. Strong had a strong finish to the 2020 season, leading the Bulldogs to the TSSAA Class A Boys’ State Tournament Championship. The 6-4 shooting guard can make shots from different areas on the court. Strong is a pretty good ball handler and can, occasionally, handle point guard if he needs to. He has a soft shooting touch and elevates high enough so his defender can’t block it.
Braeden Moore Braeden Moore 6'8" | PF Christ Presbyterian Academy | 2022 CA-S , CPA: Moore moved up four spots to No. 5. The 6-8 power forward is the perfect player for a team that needs someone in the frontcourt with the ability to make shots 17-feet out. Moore can make shots from 3. He isn’t athletic, but he’s a smart basketball player, with the ability to take great shots in an offensive set. Moore can take his defender off the dribble and can play with his back to the basket.
Cade Pendleton Cade Pendleton 6'10" | PF East Hamilton | 2022 State TN , East Hamilton: Pendleton moved up eights spots to No. 27. The 6-9 forward is similar to Moore, in terms of spacing. Pendleton runs the floor well in transition, knows how to finish, and makes shots from 3. He’s improving on the defensive end. Pendleton is contesting shots while being able to keep his balance, and he’s crashing the boards.
Jakobi Gillespie Jakobi Gillespie 6'0" | PG Greeneville | 2022 State TN , Greeneville: The 6-0 combo guard made big shots for his school against Jackson South Side in the TSSAA Class AA Boys’ State Tournament Championship game. Gillespie is a big shot taker, and he’s a big shot maker. Gillespie is a smooth ball handler, with the eye for always making the right basketball play. He’s tough to guard when he’s downhill. Gillespie loves to attack the basket.
Terrance Jacobs Jr., Bartlett: Jacobs is one of the best point guards in the class. At 5-10, he’s tough and scrappy on the defensive end. On the offensive end, Jacobs is patient, loves to get his teammates involved. Jacobs can affect the game with his passing and shooting. His strength is being able to control the pace of the game. Jacobs did that all last season for the Panthers.
