The Hustle Season Kickoff took place from Saturday, March 27th through Sunday, March 28th, and featured 45 programs ranging from 15 to 17U. It also featured several players that could flat out stroke the basketball. In this article, we take a look at the top shooters from the event.
Dom Girish Dom Girish 6'2" | CG Sonoma Valley | 2022 State CA 6’2 SG NBBA Black 2022 – Girish is a certified sniper that was nice all weekend. He may have made the most pressure shots of anyone in the event. It’s one thing to knock down 3’s when your team holds a comfortable lead, It’s another to make them when your team needs them. That’s exactly what Girish did, the 6’2 sniper had an event-high 7 3’s in a 29 point performance helping his NBBA squad overcome a 17 point second-half deficit.
Graydon Lemke Graydon Lemke 6'10" | PF Faith Lutheran | 2024 State NV 6’6 SF West Coast Select 2024 – Lemke looked like a prototypical stretch big this weekend. He shot the ball consistently and with confidence, burrying multiple 3’s in several games. In the game I personally watched he banged home 4 3’s helping WCS to a victory.
Marquis Trimble 6’1 SG Eagles Academy 2022 – Eagles Academy had several dudes, Trimble was the shooter out of the bunch. He shot it with confidence and proved to be accurate when he was in catch and shoot and when he got to dribble into his shot. The team was balanced so they didn’t have many huge individual performances, however, he did knock down 4 treys in a game against Splash City.
Jordon Cosby Jordon Cosby 5'9" | CG Spring Valley | 2024 State NV 5’11 PG Chosen Few 2024 (featured image) – I had Cosby tagged as one of the most underrated shooters on the West Coast a few months ago. He did nothing to disappoint. A true sniper Cosby was one of the most lethal shooters on the weekend, evident by a 7 3 point shooting performance.
Kaeden Castillero Kaeden Castillero 6'0" | SG Liberty | 2024 State NV 6’0 PG West Coast Select 2024 – Castillero showed off his accurate long-range shooting. He’s a floor spacer that gets his shot off quickly behind the arc. He put on a ridiculous shooting display, including knocking down 6 treys in a WCS victory.
John Connelly 6’6 SG Team Build Up 2021 – Can’t ignore the shooting prowess of Connelly. The wing sniper shot it well in catch and shoot but also was able to move without the ball before launching. Connelly has textbook form including a perfect release and consistent follow-through. He prefers accuracy over volume, making a high percentage of his treys over the course of the weekend.
