Five Top Individual Performances
- On the night Brian Robinson scored 1,000 points he also had 35 points for Prairie Seeds Academy in a 17 point win over St. Paul Prep/HSRA.
- Jordan’s Jimmy Vollbrecht scored 30 points with 14 rebounds in a way over St. Peter.
- Edina’s Walt McGrory followed his 31 points against Hopkins with 33 last night in a win over BSM.
- Nathan Hendler scored 28 for Holy Family who beat HLWW. Impressive night for the Fire junior. Holy Family won 78-62.
- Trey Prince scored 25 for Chanhassen who earned their first win by blowing out Buffalo.
Look at These Guys!
- Park of Cottage Grove beating Sibley 74-62 gives the Wolfpack a 3-1 record!
- New Prague was 20-8 a year ago and is on that 20 win pace season again. They have wins over Lakeville South, Shakopee, Chan, and last night they defeated East Ridge by 13.
- Rockford pushed to 5-1 yesterday with a win over FAIR. They won 23 games a year ago and last night’s 90-66 game shows the Rockets are a force to deal with once again.
- The Dragons are loose once again! Litchfield was 6-19 last season but a 56-49 win over Maple Lake puts them at 4-1 for the year.
- Canby is 4-0 on the year after a one point win over TMB.
Big Game Results
- Waseca over WEM 63-47. This wasn’t a huge surprise but it was a big game that the Jays won continuing to prove how good they are.
- Rebels of Champlin Park continue to show that they are the clear number one in Minnesota. Last night’s win was 87-65 over EP.
- Apple Valley vs Lakeville North was the focus contest on Tuesday and the Eagles earned a 7-63 victory likely pushing them to be the second ranked team in state.
- Lake City was expected to take a dip after Kuchinka graduated but a 65-43 win over Pine Island in a battle of unbeatens puts Lake City at 5-0.
- Jimmy Vollbrecht played one of his toughest games battling inside to get Jordan a 68-59 win over previously unbeaten St. Peter.
Still Unbeaten
- Heritage Christian defeated Jericho Sims and Cristo Rey 62-47 giving them a 4-0 record.
- The Eagles of Totino-Grace defeated Brooklyn Center by a score giving them a 5-0 mark. BC had just entered the Class AA top ten as well. The Eagles have now beaten BC, Minnehaha, and Spring Lake Park.
- Park Center continues to pile up good wins. They are a top five team with strong AAAA wins over Maple Grove, Osseo, St. Louis Park, and now Minnetonka.
- Rosemount had to go to double overtime to beat Burnsville but they got a 60-58 win and are one win from last year’s total (5-0).
- The Eagles of Eden-Valley Watkins are 3-0. This is a program that always seems to come through no matter what graduates. They beat ACGC by two scores.
Bouncing Back
- The Cougars needed the win over Eastivew to get to .500 and got it 73-58. South should be better than .500 and 30 plus point losses to Wayzata and Hopkins seems unacceptable for their talent level but they have beat good programs at EP, Brainerd, and Eastview so South is somebody to keep watching.
- After starting the year at 3-0 Coon Rapids lost to Spring Lake Park and people wondered if that would hurt their approach mentally. The answer was no as they beat Cambridge by 13.
- Byron grabbed their first win of the year beating Stewartville 79-62. After four losses by five scores or less this was a nice win for the Bears.
- Northfield suffered a tough loss at Faribault recently that made you wonder what the Raiders will be this year. Since then they have beat Owatonna and Mankato West by double figures pushing their way up the standings in the Big Nine ahead of the middle tier.
- I think many counted Shakopee out early after seeing the string of losses to Bloomington Jefferson, New Prague, and Edina. I know I did. But they are playing four freshmen and have now bounced back to beat St. Thomas and Farmington on the road.
Good win
- Sauk Rapids-Rice defeated Rocori 60-54. With the Storm getting some of their talent back into the line-up they were able to beat, or maybe even upset the Spartans 60-54.
- Red Wing is down but still tough and Austin needed to take that long bus ride, get the win, and come home. That happened 65-62 in a key Big Nine win.
- Charles completely put the smack down on the idea that maybe PEM could step above them in the Rochester area pecking area of top teams. 91-63 was the final score.
- Hinckley –Finlayson went into Braham and won 99-59. It’s been a long time since that has happened on the Bomber home floor.
- Wondering if the Edina win over Hopkins was maybe a one night hot spot? Think again. They beat area rival BSM by nine points.
