These guys could be coming off tremendous seasons looking to continue to the momentum, should see an expanded role in the grassroots scene, and/or waiting for their opportunity behind some great players.
Bailey Sides, 6’, Northern Valley: Sides is a stat sheet stuffer from the point guard spot who had himself a really solid season, and with a bigger stage, should be able to show his wide skill set to those around. He averaged 11.8 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds, and almost 3 steals per game. Sides does a good job of getting himself and his team out and running and makes smart decisions in the transition game. The point guard has a good feel for the game as well and can get going scoring the ball putting up multiple 20 plus point efforts when his team needed his scoring ability more so than playmaking. A solid three point shooter as well, he stretches the floor and pulls defenses out where he then can use his straight line driving ability to get downhill.
Sebastian Hamm Sebastian Hamm 6'2" | PG Blue Valley Southwest | 2022 State KS , 6’1, Blue Valley Southwest: Overall it was not the season BVSW was hoping for, and Hamm will be looking to reset himself and re-establish his game. He averaged 7 points and 2 assists per game on the year, a little lower than I would have previously thought after his really strong fall performance in the MoKan league and fall camps. Hamm has ability to run a team effectively, make plays with the ball in his hands, and be a very solid point guard. Back on the grassroots scene, if he can get his shooting back up to where its been especially off the catch and pull up jumpers, he should be in for a stock rising spring. He has good size and quickness to get into the painted area as well and make plays, will be fun to see him get going again.
Brett Sarwinski Brett Sarwinski 5'10" | PG Galena | 2022 State KS , 5’10, Galena: A great point guard to play off of the talented Tyler Little Tyler Little 6'5" | PF Galena | 2023 State KS , Sarwinski is a skilled tough nosed point guard who brings tremendous stability and leadership to the basketball court. He is asked to do a lot from the lead guard spot and he handles it with class, being able to score from the perimeter, inside, and some in the mid range game while getting his teammates involved, and being one of their best rebounders. His solid play, confidence, and versatile skill set in the back court wil allow him to flourish in any system on the grassroots scene.
Trevor Mcbride Trevor Mcbride 6'2" | CG Basehor Linwood | 2022 State KS , 6’2 , Basehor-Linwood: McBride and his squad’s season ended a little earlier than they had hoped, but the junior point guard went out swinging, helping keep his team somewhat in the ball game with a 13 point half. Becoming more and more aggressive as the season went on, McBride was able to showcase more of the point guard arsenal he possesses, from the leadership aspect, putting guys in spots to be successful, getting separation and downhill from ball pressure, and a sizeable finishing package around the painted area. A defensive and energy specialist in the back court, McBride’s offensive ability began to flourish and put teams on notice in the second half of the season, and look for him to continue letting people know in the spring.
Carson Kieffer Carson Kieffer 6'1" | PG Hays | 2022 State KS , 6’, Hays: Running the point for the loaded Hays squad this year was done masterfully by Kieffer, providing a scoring punch in the back court and helping put the talented bunch around him in places to succeed. Kieffer plays off his posts well, being a good post entry passer and passing out of screens. He is a great player in the pick and roll, and is patient coming off ball screens and has a great change of pace to attack the hedge or the switch. His dynamic ability with the ball will help him elevate his stock this spring. He averaged 10 points, 6.5 assists, and 2.4 rebounds per game this year.
