CBG ECE Recruiting Report: Quadir Copeland (2022)

<p><strong>School:</strong> Life Center Academy</p> <p><strong>Height:</strong> 6’6”</p> <p><strong>Position:</strong> Point Guard</p> <p><strong>Offers:</strong> Oregon, Syracuse, Miami, Maryland, Penn State, St. Joe’s, La Salle</p> <p><strong>2 Game Camp Averages:</strong> 8.5 PPG, 8.5 APG, 5.5 RPG</p> <p>One of the best part of the CBG East Coast Elite 24 Camp was that it brought very talented kids from different areas to train and compete together, and one of them that came the furthest was 2022 point guard [player_tooltip player_id="990936" first="Quadir" last="Copeland"]. One of the biggest trending guard in the mid-atlantic, Copeland is from Philly but plays at Life Center Academy in New Jersey, and he came down with a great attitude and desire to work.</p> <p>“I’m just here trying to have fun, get some more exposure and get better for sure,” Copeland said.</p> <p>It didn’t take long for Copeland to start to impress, as the big guard showed his his mix of athleticism and skill set early in the skills and drills and three-on-three portion of the camp. Once games got it started, it was clear early that he not only is a true point guard at his size, he has some of the most natural playmaking ability I’ve seen in a long time.</p> <p>Copeland is the type of guard that sees the game in slow motion and sees it a couple of plays ahead of everyone else. It took some of his teammates time to realize this, as he had a couple of gorgeous passes go right by guys who simply weren’t used to playing with a guard that could see the floor the way he does, and be able to deliver passes on the money with the type of flash that he does. He has a game you can tell was developed playing on the playgrounds, and while he adds some flare to what he does, he gets the job done and he’s a lot of fun to play with because he keeps everyone involved and puts everyone in positions to succeed.</p> <p>“I grew up playing at kingsessing park and that’s where I hit my flash from just hearing the crowd on every move, it was the best feeling,” he said. “As a kid I was always undersized, so I had to be a pass first guy, and once I hit my growth spurt it just stuck with me."</p> <p>Copeland describes himself as a late bloomer and his recruitment is still growing as he just starting getting offers this past year, but he says some of the schools that he has the best relationships with include Oregon, Syracuse, Pittsburgh, Penn State and Miami. He says he’s heard recently from UConn, Villanova and most recently from Michigan after his outstanding performance at the camp.</p> <p>When I asked him what it would take for him to commit to a school, and he says it’s all about where he feels he can play his game the best way.</p> <p>“Comfortability, just being able to play my game and play my position as a true point guard,” he said. “I’m looking for a free flowing style and somewhere that I can have free will to play my game and do what I need to do to be able to bring wins to that program.”</p> <p>The sky is the limit for Copeland, who will be the lead guy with the ball in his hands for Team Final on the Nike EYBL Circuit. He still has room to grow as a scorer which should develop with work, but once more coaches get their eyes on his ability to run a team and make plays at his size he’s going to have every college in the country knocking on his door.</p>
