We’ll start out with seven uncommitted seniors in the Southeast Conference who stood out this year, and are capable of playing at the next level!
Kael Stulo Kael Stulo 6'1" | CG Oak Creek | 2021 State WI (6’1 2021 G, Oak Creek)- Part of arguably the top one-two punch in the conference, Kael Stulo Kael Stulo 6'1" | CG Oak Creek | 2021 State WI is a lightning quick guard who can excel as a facilitator or scorer. Playing alongside a Division 1 committed player, Kael did whatever was asked of him to help his team win games. He’s an accurate shooter who knocked down 45 threes on the season, but he’s also so shifty and capable of getting into the paint to score with a floater. His performance against Tosa West where he was facing constant double teams and still finding ways to make plays on both ends showcased just how good of a player he can be. Averaged 12.4 ppg as a senior and holds an offer from New Mexico Military Institute.
Trey Jenkins Trey Jenkins 6'5" | SG Bradford | 2021 State WI (6’4 2021 SG, Kenosha Bradford)- In Bradford’s shortened season Trey got off to a cold shooting start, but once he got in a groove he was a force in the SEC. Trey averaged 16.3 ppg, including scoring 16+ in all of Bradford’s last nine games of the year. Trey is a long and lanky guard who’s a threat from beyond the arc, and is so good at creating his own shot off one or two dribbles from three or mid-range. His length and elevation on his pull-up jumper makes him hard to guard, and he also works hard on the glass on both ends. Trey averaged a conference leading 7.5 rebounds per game, and with his build and skillset, he has some nice potential at the next level.
Carter Capstran Carter Capstran 6'6" | PF Franklin | 2021 State WI (6’6 2021 F, Franklin)- I think a lot of SEC coaches will be glad that Carter is graduating this year, and I mean that in the best way possible as he has been terrorizing opposing defenses for the past four seasons. Carter averaged 16.6 ppg at the time this article was written (though he still has at least one more game to play), and also chipped in with 7.4 rebounds and 3 assists a contest. A really efficient scorer who can use his strength and footwork to dominate on the block, or step out on the wing and use his perimeter skills to get a bucket, Carter scored over 1,300 points over his high school career. A guy who top D3 schools and a couple of D2s have been looking at.
Ezra Stargell Ezra Stargell 6'1" | PG Kenosha Indian Trail | 2021 State WI (5’11 2021 PG, Kenosha Indian Trail)- When Ezra is locked in, there aren’t too many point guards in the state that are more talented than him. He added some muscle over the past year, and is now a threat to score inside or out. He’s incredibly difficult to defend one on one as he’s so quick off the dribble and can get into the paint or let it fly from well beyond the arc. Outside of his ability to score the basketball, Ezra has incredible passing vision and can rack up assists in a hurry. His teammates always have to be ready to shoot because he’s capable of making difficult passes that not many point guards can make. Averaged 13.2 ppg as he helped lead his team to a regional championship.
Trey Cardona (5’10 2021 PG, Kenosha Tremper)- Yet another talented point guard in the SEC, Trey Cardona is one of the most under-the-radar players in his class. After being his teams third option last year, Trey took over in the playoffs last season and carried that success over to his senior year. Though I can’t find his complete stats online (listed at 17.7 ppg from 11 out of his 14 games on wissports), Trey told me he finished the year at 20.1 points and 4.1 assists per game. Cardona is lightning quick and capable of taking a game over in a hurry. He’s dangerous pulling up off the dribble from three, and fearless attacking the basket and drawing contact against size. In a close game, coaches can trust the ball in Trey’s hands because he always seems to come up with a clutch bucket when needed.
Kyle Andrews (5’10 2021 G, Kenosha Indian Trail)- Another guy flying under the radar, Kyle is a tough as nails guard who made a name for himself in the playoffs this year. Kyle is a nice three-and-D prospect, who can light it up from beyond the arc and then bring energy to the defensive end. He can sit on opposing ball handlers, and isn’t afraid to take a hard hit to draw a charge. In the playoffs he dropped 18 points and hit the game winner against Bradford to secure a regional title, and then scored 22 points to nearly pull off a huge upset against Wauwatosa East in the sectional semi-finals. A guy small schools might want to take a look at.
Caleb Cornelius (6’3 2021 W, Racine Park)- Don’t know a whole lot about Caleb as he didn’t play in the Park game that I was able to watch this season, and I can’t find any film on him, but he made a nice leap to 12.1 ppg this season after scoring 5.7 ppg as a junior. A long wing prospect with some explosiveness to finish above the rim, he could be an intriguing project player for the next level if he keeps putting in the work to improve.
Yontae Bell (6’1 2021 G, Racine Case)- Yontae is another player who made a big leap this season, and could continue to improve with his work ethic. Yontae put up 7 ppg this season as a key player for Case, after averaging just .7 ppg last year as a junior. He’s a hard working defender with quickness and solid length, and offensively he’s capable of slashing from the wing or hitting the open jumper.
Vinko Polovic Vinko Polovic 6'7" | PF Franklin | 2021 State WI (6’7 2021 F, Franklin)- A high ceiling guy with an intriguing blend of size and skill, Vinko has the potential to play at a high level in college if he can put it all together and keep working hard. He has the size to play the 4, but has shown the skillset and mobility to play on the wing as well. Vinko scored a season best 19 in a close win over Muskego, and averaged just over 7 ppg on the season for a deep Franklin team. With his high arcing jumper, ability to move and handle for his size, and dedication to improving, Vinko will be a nice get for whatever college program lands him.
Jalen Murphy Jalen Murphy 6'0" | CG Oak Creek | 2021 State WI (6’ 2021 G, Oak Creek)- Jalen really emerged onto the scene this year as a strong third option for Oak Creek. He’s got solid size, strength, and athleticism on the wing, with the ability to shoot off the catch or create his own shot off the dribble. I like his mid-range game a lot, and he’s also a hard worker on the defensive end. Was a very consistent performer and had games of 21 and 19 while averaging 9.5 ppg on the season.
