Week 9 is underway and we have got a big slate of high school hoops going on this week in Indiana. This season is going to be full of uncertainty, but let us dive on in and take a look at some highlights of Friday’s night of hoops.

New Albany Downs Silver Creek

Silver Creek has dominated since the return of [player_tooltip player_id="529572" first="Trey" last="Kaufman"], winning 7 in a row, but New Albany was able to put together an outstanding 32 minute performance to down the Dragons 81-72. New Albany shot the ball outstanding from the outside, and they were able to hold the Silver Creek offense in check. New Albany was led by [player_tooltip player_id="958400" first="Tucker" last="Biven"] with 20, [player_tooltip player_id="870227" first="Kaden" last="Stanton"] with 16, and Josten Carter and [player_tooltip player_id="958399" first="Maddox" last="Schmelz"] with 15. Kaufman did his job for the Dragons with 30, but [player_tooltip player_id="569321" first="Kooper" last="Jacobi"] was held to just 10 points. The Silver Creek Dragons will look to get back on track with Tuesday’s home game against Providence. New Albany will look to keep this momentum as they travel to Evansville to take on the undefeated Evansville Reitz team.

[player_tooltip player_id="529593" first="Jayden" last="Brewer"] Makes Ben Davis Debut

[player_tooltip player_id="529593" first="Jayden" last="Brewer"] is the #13 senior in the state who currently holds offers to Cleveland State, Evansville, IUPUI, and Miami (OH). However, after being held out due to a transfer from Avon to Ben Davis for his senior season, he was finally able to make his senior season debut on Friday against Center Grove. Despite the Giants falling to Center Grove, Brewer played very well with 16 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists. With this talent joining Ben Davis, they will probably be considered the favorites in the wide-open Sectional 11. Ben Davis will be back in action on Saturday at Decatur Central.

Heritage Hills Survives at the Buzzer

The Patriots came in to their game at Southridge at 9-0 with only one game being decided by single-digits. Despite this Southridge came out for blood and was seconds away from pulling off the upset. [player_tooltip player_id="783142" first="Colson" last="Montgomery"], a future Indiana Hoosier baseball player, got a big putback off his own miss to take a 1 point lead with just 8.4 seconds remaining. However, J.T. Smallwood caught a pass in the corner and burried the game-winning three with just 1.2 seconds remaining to keep the Patriots unbeaten. Montgomery and [player_tooltip player_id="874112" first="Blake" last="Sisley"] led their respective teams with 22 and 20 points each. Both teams will be back in action at Southridge on Saturday with Southridge hosting Greensburg and Heritage Hills taking on Barr-Reeve.
