The session runs from January 7th until January 28th and features some of the top prep teams across America. I pulled up on day 7 of the action. In this article, we take a look at some of the players that made a positive first impression.
Silas Sunday 7’1 C Our Savior Lutheran 2022 – Size was not at a premium on this day. Sunday is a large human with a soft touch. He has terrific hands and displayed them when both catching passes and corralling rebounds. Easy to see why he holds offers from schools like Wake Forest, St Johns, and Rutgers.
Kamari Lands 6’7 SF Prolific Prep 2022 – It really wasn’t my first time seeing Lands, but his offensive ability needs to be mentioned. The 6’7 wing has an entire repertoire of moves including step-backs, euro’s and hesitations. Lands got out in transition to finish and was able to create space and buckets off the dribble. Big-time prospect that has half the Big East on his trail.
Kamal Muhammad 6’7 PF BFL Prep Black 2022 – OMG is all I can say about Muhammad. A clear candidate for my all glass cleaner team, Muhammad displayed a relentless motor. The undersized 4 man, put on a low post show, scoring on direct post-ups and putbacks. He attacked the glass, defended, and just made it difficult for anyone attempting to try him down low. Muhammad has an offer from Eastern Washington, but realistically once play opens up I expect him to receive more.
Shaedon Sharpe Shaedon Sharpe 6'4" | SG Dream City Christian | 2022 #1 Nation AZ 6’5 SF Dream City Christian 2022 – Sharpe is a social media sensation because of his high flying highlights. I mistakenly thought that he was strictly a run and jump specialist. I was wrong. Sharpe showed potent offensive ability, hitting several tough shots in a tight game against Colorado Prep. While his R&J ability allowed him to score in transition, he did the bulk of his damage in iso situations, using a def handle and great footwork to create space for open shots.
Mo Mbaye 6’9 PF Colorado Prep 2021 – Mbaye was unstoppable down low. The 6’9 forward commanded double and triple teams throughout the game. Despite playing an entire game with bodies all around him, he managed to make the correct decision every time down. Bring the double, Mbaye made the kick out. Single cover him, and it’s an array of turning over left shoulder, righthand jump hooks. Mbaye was magnificent on the day.
