Thanks to the efforts of both AAU and High School coaches players had the opportunity to hone their craft, compete with their teammates, and gain exposure. While so much of the focus has been on subtraction, I wanted to take a look at some of the additions. In this article we breakdown some players ready to reach the next rankings.
Kiree Huie Kiree Huie 6'8" | PF Desert Valley Prep | 2021 State NV 6’8 PF Desert Valley Prep 2021 – A college coach recently called me about Huie. It took a millisecond for me to start gushing about him. I’m a huge fan of dirty work guys and the 6’8 PF is just that. He’s a throwback PF with the ability to bang and board. When the new rankings are released next month, he’s definitely going to be making an appearance.
Zaba Bangala Zaba Bangala 6'8" | SF Trinity | 2021 State NV 6’8 SF Trinity Valley Prep 2021 – I was able to catch Bangala at the recent Great Western Winter Classic. His ability to score the basketball is impressive. When you add in the fact that he has prototypical size for a college wing, and it’s easy to see why the native of Sweeden becomes an intriguing prospect and one deserving of being ranked.
Lawrence Murray Lawrence Murray 6'5" | PF Green Valley | 2022 NV 6’5 PF Green Valley 2022 (featured image) – Murray caught my eye with his play at our Expo back in October. He has since followed it up with some quality performances in tournaments. Like many of the players playing for OTTG, he’s a gritty tough-minded competitor and someone whose body of work during the fall warrants a spot in the rankings.
Dylan Cooks 5’10 CG Arbor View 2023 – The young guard has good speed and blow-by ability. He is a dedicated paint touch getter with the ability to collapse the defense. Currently, he is a combo, however as he develops more PG skills he has a chance to not only appear in the rankings but to rise.
John Mobley Jr John Mobley Jr 6'0" | PG Wasatch Academy | 2024 State #55 Nation UT 5’10 CG Bishop Gorman 2024 – I have to admit, I’m a card-carrying member of the JMJ fan club. Mobley has that wiggle to his game that makes him different. Only a freshman, his ability to shoot the ball off the bounce, landed him a spot in my recent, top 50 WC snipers list. He’s going to be in the rankings for sure, the question becomes, just how high will the long-range bomber rise?
