Final Thoughts
Austin is the regular favorite and they’ve earned that right again. With what Austin has back for a senior group and what’s coming up with them, the Packers will be the favorites but they have a very real contender to fear in Byron. The Bears return their entire line-up from a season ago, the Bears have young talent coming up that will give them more depth, and Byron has a top point guard in the state (Braaten) and a nationally ranked big (Lee). If Austin hadn’t won six of the last eight section titles with a team approach that is so tough to beat, Byron would be the clear pick. This season they are clearly the top two. K-M will be better and has a star, Winona has a budding star but much to replace, and Simley has a great pair making them the third listed squad, but this is about the Packers and Bears.
